Default Need Help With Codes

I bought a 2004 vette with 75k miles in February. The past month I would get a random Service Active Handling warning. It's popped up about 4 times now but goes away. I pulled this code:
C1287 Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction

Today I got a Service Tire Press Monitoring System warning with this code: C2115 Left Rear TPM Sensor Malfunction

While getting the codes this one popped up too.
B0367 Right Actuator Feedback Open

What am I looking at with these? Hopefully an easy fix?

When I first got the service active handling warning I cleared the codes and C1287 H is what came back with the HVAC code. They always show H though.

Im not worried about the HVAC code just thought I would throw it in since it came up

Today I got the c2115 C. I wasn't sure if this is somehow related to the C1287 or if these are two separate issues.

Sounds like one of the TPMS sensors has gone away.

The problems are unrelated.
And neither is an easy 5 minute at home fix.

That usually means an expensive at the shop fix.

Guess I'll find a local vette place.

Thanks for your help

You'll need to get it to a dealer for the steering sensor and I wouldn't wait too long as I hear they are either discontinued or being discontinued. The actuator, you can buy one from Rockauto at a substantial discount. Not easy to replace but can be done laying on your back with lots of aches and pain.

Talked to a shop today who said its probably the steering column lock. Could it be that instead of the sensor. Seems everything I read for that code was about the sensor. Taking it in Wednesday

That sux. It's a shop that I found on here and has been around for over 20 years. But I definitely questioned it when he said that after I gave him the codes i pulled.

They just moved to temp operations in Plano. They're not out in Wylie anymore. I can never remember any of the other Vette shops, but I do know that I trust LG, and do so because of their own refusal to rip me off when they had the chance.

Must not work on many C5s, I wouldn't use them. Thats not an uncommon code. Not too hard to replace. There are how-to write up on the forum or buy or borrow a service manual.

Christee, by any chance is your steering wheel out of center when driving straight?

Excellent question and I wish I had remembered to ask precisely that. If its out of alignment and the steering wheel is not centered, you can result in problems with the steering sensor reporting codes. Not sure the 1287 is one of them but its certainly a valid question.

If so, it's very minor.

If it's not straight, you probably need an alignment. Once you have that done clear the codes and see if it comes back. If it does the problem is most likely with the steering sensor itself.

TPMS do go bad as the battery dies over time....so it would not be out of place for the sensor to die and need replacing. That should be something most any tire shop can do....and I would think that is probably all that is.

The steering sensor code...not sure. I can look at it with the Tech II and see if it is reading at all, or reading wrong. Could be a simple reset, or it might need a new sensor. I think GM sensors run around $80-90. Not fun to change but not the end of the world.

They can get any part you need Christee. Here's their number so you can set up a time to take your car in 972-429-1963. And the address for the facility in Plano:

LG Motorsports
1100 Progress Ave
Plano, TX 75074

sales@lgmotorsports.com

They'll take good care of you and your car. Don't forget to pet the dog while you're there. He loves Vette owners.
