Coming back through Louisville from Bowling Green this morning the car [C5 Z06] started to slow, no amount of throttle helped. When I saw smoke coming from the rear I figured the brakes had locked -managed to get it to an off ramp. AAA towed it to Bachman Chevrolet in Louisville. When the engine is off and the trans in neutral you can push the car fine. As soon as the engine fires up it won't roll at all. No lights on the dash, although it had been showing the service traction control, ABS and active handling messages for a couple of days. Those went off this morning and have not come on since.
Any ideas while I wait for the techs to hook a computer up to it?
First thing to do would be to pull your DTC's to get a better idea of what's going on. Since it's already at a shop there's no point as that's also likely the first thing they'll do since your Service ABS TCS and AH lights are on.
Just for future reference you can pull you DTCs directly from the DIC on your C5. You do not need and external scanner.
Bad news - it's the brake control valve and module. This was replaced 9k miles ago under the GMPP warranty. Anyone aware of a defect in these parts? This is a low mileage car (25k) so I don't get having two failures unless the part is defective.

I would ask them how they arrived at this diagnosis. Warranty work is one thing but this will probably be coming out of your pocket.

The EBCTM and the BPMV are EXPENSIVE components and, though not impossible, I'd find it hard to believe they both failed at the same time so soon after you replaced them. Ask them what DTCs were showing or get the car back and check them yourself.
Bill, et al - thanks for the replies. I've got a call in to Chevrolet through the dealer in Louisville to discuss the failure(s). Seems unlikely to me also - will get the codes from the dealership tomorrow; the tech doing the work says brake fluid leaked into the module and shorted it out - that's all the info I have so far. My priority is getting the car back on the road, will fight the "who pays for what" battle once that's done. I'll certainly get both the BPMV and the module before leaving Louisville.
As usual, the repair schedule has shifted; parts were supposed to be available from Cincy, but this morning I was told they're coming from West Virgina, won't be in until Friday. My wife drove down from Dayton and rescued me - we'll wait this out at home.
