Default digging into headlight wiring?

So my headlights don't work or work intermitently to not at all. Found connector C209 that goes to the left stalk multifuntion switch.

among many wires is dark green = headlight signal off
White = headlight signal on
this is from 8-1263 in the WSM

So am I right to assume these are wires to a relay that make the headlight buckets go up and then the low beams come on? How do you trigger them "on"? Sorry for being an electrical idiot but am I guessing right you take the dark green and connect it to ground? I'm trying not to blow anything up. If it works the problem is inside my switch. If it does not work the problem is somewhere else.

I guess what confuses me is why there is a headlamp off signal? It seems that with a simple relay you just need the headlight on signal. So this system must be wired another way?

Don't forget that there are also sensors that detect light. If there is enough light then they won't come on.

Also, there is a controller in behind the right headlight.

If you can get access to a FSM that will help. I have one on my other computer.

You may be right about the switch as they fail regularly. Try squirting some electronics cleaner in there to clean up the contacts. Its been known to work. If not, there's a DIY switch strip down on here. Alaskanpilot posted it IIRC.

Heres the diagram:

The tan wire at the headlamp switch connector is the low-beams power. If the lamps are rising but not turning on with the lowbeams, look at that wire.

Apologies but it was Miker who posted the switch refurbishment thread:
