he fixed it for me for $50!!!!!!!!!! Extremely quick turnaround.
thanks ...thats a great price! did your module stop working gradually or bang its dead??did you do all the usual tests to make sure?? mine was a gradual decline ... one day on for a bit then off and ok for a while. but now TCS no comm all the time... i believe it was changed by the previous owner in 2007 ... so this a surprise to go again so soon... i will contact him after i have a look at Bill's advice.. cheers for your help ..

This just happened to me on a 03 z06. I havent tested grounds and such yet. But im not hopeful.
thanks i have contacted him.. I did find a small amount of water ingress inside the module , but it had dried out .. this could be the problem.
some other guys on CF have just had a fuse go or a dirty ground.. wish mine was that simple! maybe yours is an easy cure??!

1. The serial data buss has an issue that is being caused the EBTCM or another module. The modules with the most issues are the LDCM, RDCM and the Seat Control Module SCM. Simply disconnect the STAR 2 Connector shorting buss (on top of the connector) and that will ISOLATE those three modules from the rest of the modules.
ok this may sound stupid but where is this STAR 2 connector shorting bus ( so i can remove it? ) which module and where??
2. Plain and simple,,, The module has power and ground but, ITS TOAST!
OK will check
3. Disconnect STAR 1 and STAR 2 connectors and read each module serial data terminal to chassis ground. If one of the readings is out to lunch, that module is likely the issue.
how do i know which is ground on the modules ( another stupid question )
For the C5 to operate, you really only need the BCM and the PCM.
If you disconnect star 1 & 2 connector shorting busses AND JUMPER WIRE PINS "B" & "M" together the engine will start and run just fine.
do i need to do this??
If you jumper B, M & "E",,,,,,,,,,,, all the other modules will be out of the circuit and if the EBTCM is working, the NO COMMS issue should NOT be an issue any longer.
Are you talking about the EBTCM?? is it easy to jump the terminals?
If its still an issue, you have an issue internal to the module or with the wire to the STAR CONNECTOR! Do a continuity check from the EBTCM connector " PIN #10 " to star connector #1 Pin "E"
Bill where are these star connectors?? man this is technical .. i can do it if i know where to look....
BC
i know where the PCM and EBTCM are but the rest?? do you have pics of the star connectors in question??
cheers for all your help here bill ....i did find a small amount of water staining /rust although dry inside the module ! this was replaced in 2007 by the former owner.
The BCM is in the passengers foot well. To the LEFT of the BCM,,, you will find two small thin grey connectors.... Those are star 1 and 2. Star 2 has four wires..

ok must have missed these or new codes. PCM P0650 hc P1571 hc P1689hc. i have been disconting the battery and reconnecting a lot.
any ideas .. could this be the issue not the tcs no comm??
Hmmmm....that changes the game a little from my perspective. A couple of questions:
1) Do you have maual or dual climate control?
2) When those codes are current, do your back up lamps work?
3) When those codes are current, do you still have 12 volts(key on) at pin B of the EBCM connector?

i have 2002 zo6. dual climate control. works with no problems.
i did just reset codes , i believe the back up lamps work. they also come on when the alarm is armed.
i need to drive it to reset the pcm codes for some reason. i will test pin b with ign on with pcm codes set...
FYI i tried the connecter B E M jumper on the star connector 1 , and the TCS still says no comm...

why do you think the PCM codes change things ???
hope i can help you someday......
Those codes, in conjunction with an EBCM that is "no comm", is consistent with an ignition switch problem.....but...if the ignition switch were flaky, there would be other issues as well, and an absence of voltage on EBCM pin B.

well its doing my head in thats for sure !!
which of the 3 codes is the most relevant? do all 3 of these codes point to the ignition?? they only set when i drive the car or start it. they dont set with the ign on only .

There are all relevant.....or I would not have elaborated. In any case, if all the voltage checks are good at the EBCM, and there are no other systems not working, then it's not the ignition switch.

ok started the zo6 got the codes straight away without moving. all 3 codes show. ign on tested pin B ..... it is 11.9v as is pin A...
back up lights work with car in reverse....
is the tcs abs system linked to the PCM is it possible this could be 2 separate faults?? faults?? or could the PCM codes make a TCS NO COMM issue happen???
what i am saying is if i renew or replace the ebtcm module and it fixes the TCS NO COMM , will the PCM Codes go away?? or visa versa.........
thanks for your patience and for now i will hold back on sending this to the speedometerguy.....
From: LA from the 6th sept till the 10th sept california ( then New Zealand)
i guess these codes are because the EBTCM module is off the car?? although it has a NO COMM with the ABS TCS..... this could be throwing up the other faults as they are all TCS or Torque related ...
what do you all think ....??? wheres your momey on this ?? module or ??

well posted the abs tcs module off the speedometer repair guy , so i hope he can work his magic on it and ... its the problem !!!
will update once i have it back and installed.....
