I sprayed electrical connection cleaner on the connectors and washed the conductive grease off. After driving it for 30 minutes all my gauges shut down but the RPM & volt.
My radio, power windows and air con. shut down also. I repeated the cleaning and 30 minutes later it did it again. I don't know where to go from here. My message display said "shocks inoperative" plus abs & traction system.
I just had Top Performance remove my ebcm and I would like to know the best place to get it refurbished. 1998 convertible.
There is no place. Do you have active handling? If yes, you could put a newer 01+ EBCM into the car. If no, you still could but it'd take a little more wiring and the installation of 2 more sensors.

I've seen 2 different ads in here saying the can refurbish. One Is $60.00 and the other was $125.00 I just wanted to know which was the best? I do have active handling

You can contact them if you don't believe me. No-one fixes 97-00 modules.
I don't know about the physical mounting but it's still the same car so likely need both the module and the mounting bracket to put it on. Might need some lines too.
You'd need to change the wiring plugs on the harness to match the old wiring to the new module. I've looked through the wiring and it's all the same except the Steering Wheel Position Sensor which has more wires on the older cars. Both have encoder wires but the older one also has an analog output the newer one doesn't have so those wires wouldn't be hooked up to the newer EBCM.
It wouldn't be a simple swap-in but it's definately possible with a little work.
I have one in my garage. I should really see if it works and if it's the ABS/AH/TC or the ABS/TC version. Used ones are selling for $1000 to $1500.
Bud,, if you take on the job of installing a late model EBTCM into your early car, its going to be one complex job. The wiring wont be as difficult as the brake lines will be.
Look at your EBTCM/BPMV and compare it to the 2001+ EBTCM/BPMV
Bill, got any clearer pictures of the mounting and lines on the 2001+ unit??
I should have asked. Mikeyboy1, is your module front mounted or rear mounted?
My understanding is that the bracket is different but the newer model was only front mount so you'd have to make a bracket if yours is rear mounted. Some of the lines still go in the left side the same as the older unit but a couple go in the top as well. So, a couple of lines would have to be replaced or spliced and extended to reach. It really didn't look too bad from the pictures I could find. But then, I don't consider it a big deal to flare a splice connector onto the old line at a convenient spot to extend it to where it has to reach. But others might not like that and insist on a complete new line.
As for the electrical, I haven't been able to find reliable enough pics to know if the connectors are physically the same or not. I've seen pics of both connected but not the connector view well enough to tell. At any rate, the control wire part looks like a PCM connector, which means the connector can be taken apart and those wires and pins can just be pushed out easily. So, either plug them into the right spots on the new housing or just move them in the old housing and it's done. There are some bigger power connectors, they might pull-out or they might need to be spliced.
