Default Replaced PCV, now getting CEL

I have an oil catch can. I was removing it yesterday to empty it and the rubber hose coming off the PCV valve ripped off due to dry rot. Realizing that I had to order a new one because it is a specific piece, I decided to go to Advance Auto to get a generic PCV valve that has two male ends, and just use some hose to connect it at both ends and place it in-line. Now, my CEL light keeps coming on (P0443). I tried flipping the PCV valve, thinking I put it on the wrong way, but still no dice.

Any ideas? Is the factory piece that specific to where if I use an generic aftermarket piece it will throw a code?

Thanks!

It must have something to do with the inside diameter of the generic pcv valve. Too restrictive perhaps? The system is too simple to mess up...

Yeah that was my initial thought. Anyone know what the size of the factory piece is?

P0443 has nothing to do with the PCV.. Its a Evap Emissions Purge Selonoid. On the drivers side of the manifols is another manifold connection. It goes reward tpo a solenoid valve. Make sure that manifold connection & electrical connectin is good!

Clear the DTCs and see if it comes back. Is it a History or CURRENT code.

Is the pcv valve even necessary anymore with a good catch can???? I had mine put back in line after catch can, then was reading this past weekend seen several setups without pcv valve altogether out of crankcase to catchcan then to intake manifold solid hoses no pcv valve.

You were right Bill. I found a blue and red harness unplugged under there. Makes sense too, as I just removed the intake manifold to do the oil pressure switch at the same time I drained the oil catch can. Must've forgot to plug it back in.

But, now I have a new problem. When I was plugging that harness back in I broke something that the harness plugs into. I don't know what it is. Can anyone tell from the pics below?

I am assuming I can just superglue it back together. It's hollow inside.

I have terrible luck, lol.

I guess I should do my own research before asking questions, lol. I found the part:

I'm still going to glue it together. No sense in wasting money

The OEM PCV air flow is calculated into the PCM as an AFTER THE MAF value. IF,,,,,,,, you increase or decrease that value,,,,,,,,,,, you alter your AFR... and the PCM need to ADD or SUBTRACT via the LTFT calc.

So, unless you change the value for the PCM calculated PCV air flow,, use the OEM PCV valve.

You can insert a thin METAL tube into the opening on either side of the break and apply epoxy to seal it up. OR get a new one. (any hobby shop will have thin metal brass tubing)

If it were me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i would be CREATIVE and make it work!
