pilot bearing or bushing?

Default pilot bearing or bushing?

I'm going to be installing a new clutch this winter and was wondering whats going to give me the least amount of trouble a pilot bearing or bushing?

I've seen many posts about the bearings coming apart soon after they were installed.

The answer to your quesstion is that the bronze bushing will give you the least amount of trouble. You just can't screw it up during the input shaft install. On the other hand, you can very easily bung up the bearing and end up with needle bearings flying around and grinding up and degrading the input shaft. There is also at least one company that makes a kevlar bushing but it's pretty costly.

If you install JUST the torque tube into the bell housing without the trans or diff, its light and easy to manipulate and you will have a lot less chance of clutch disk or bearing damage.

The trans and diff install easily on the Torque Tube.

Thanks guys, I'll be having the rear rebuilt at the same time so installing the torque tube alone was the way I was going anyway.

Kevlar bushing and NEVER look back. Ask me how I know. Pricey I know... I went through NAPA.
