Default slave cylinder question...

I have a 01 c5z and recently my clutch pedal started sticking to the floor....found clutch fluid leaking by the oil filter....did some research and it leads to a faulty slave....so I'm going to get the slave replaced my question is I seen these shims that they sell for the slave which one do I get...or do I even have to replace them....

If you have a stock OEM clutch,, you really do not need to worry about the shims. The SHIM comes into play when you install aftermarket clutch parts.

The air gap between the throw out bearing and pressure plate fingers needs to be a specific clearance.

When you install aftermarket parts,,, checking the air gap is critical!

make sure you put the remote clutch bleeder line in while you have it apart!

is only a few extra bucks and will save you a lot of headaches.

low funds situations suck, but you'll probably be kicking yourself later if you don't do the clutch now....half or more of the cost of a clutch instal is the labor you are paying for right now.

maybe look for a gently used clutch here someplace, wouldn't normally recommend that but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do

It is looking like the slaves are lasting about 10 to 12 years.

Considering where they are located, their constant use and the generally poor maintenance they receive they are doing OK.

The folks at GM Parts House say when you get the LS7 clutch you need the LS6 slave, LS6 master, and LS7 flywheel.

I just got my car back from doing this today (Thursday).

I believe that you have been misinformed.

The stock GM C5 clutch master cylinder is fine.

If you have purchased a Tick adjustable clutch master cyl, that will work too.

Wadoka in post # 7 is correct in what you will need.
LS/7 clutch & P/plate
LS/7 Fly wheel
pilot bearing #14061685
LS/6 Slave #24264180 (Comes with Throw out bearing)

Optional LS/6 M/C........... #12564455 (I'd personally install a new one)
Optional fly wheel bolts (6) #11569956
Optional P/Plate bolts (6) #12561465

My stock slave cylinder is different than the C6 sc...

What can I do?

Do I dorder the c6 pedal set up, or the master cylinder, or anything else?

Any help is appreciated

Order an LS6 slave. I'd go ahead and replace the master as well, and order a remote clutch bleeder.

I would still take the measurements for shims with an LS7 clutch/pp. I know you don't have to for the LS6 and LS1 clutches, but I'm not sure about the ls7.

I did get the c6 slave, just need to figure out how to mount to the c5 set up.

You need a c5 slave (the LS6 slave is for a c5). Sell the c6 slave on the forum or ebay or something, and get the correct one. The c6 one does not fit.
