Hi guys, I'm coming over from the C3 section and in need of some help regarding O2 sensors. Is it possible for an O2 Upstream sensor to go bad without throwing a code? I just installed the BBK LT headers system, and Corvette O2's (SMP Brand) and am having problems with the car. I got a system lean code on bank 1 and a random/multiple misfire code. I have HP tuners, and scanned the car and noticed that the bank 1 O2 sensor wouldn't go past maybe .150V, even when I accelerated. The bank 2 sensor responds normally and the volts do go up.
Can this be the Bank 1 sensor that is bad? These two are brand new sensors. This is with an LS1 Camaro.
If the O2 is stuck at a low voltage then that bank should be running very rich and it should throw a code saying the O2 isn't working. Dens41 suggestion is good. Swap the O2's and find if it follows the O2 sensor or stays with the car. But you are likely looking at replacing that O2 sensor. I've don't recall ever seeing SMP brand O2 sensors. I'd stick with better name sensors like NGK or AC Delco.
For one bank to have a LEAN O2 sensor voltage,, its most likely working but,, that bank isn't getting correct fuel or way too much air.
Are your injectors firing correctly for that bank?
Is there some way that bank is getting air? Cracked manifold, bad injector O rings??
How does the other injector look voltage wise at idle?? Should be switching from approx 150mv to approx 850mv at a constant idle.
Agree on switching the injector side to side.
Something else to check. Turn the ignition to ON (engine OFF) after approx 4 min. CAREFULLY feel the O2 sensor body. If it is working properly it will be HOT!!! If it isn't,, check the O2 sens fuse. The sensor heater circuit MUST work for the sensor to function correctly.

I'm going to try that. The other sensor does switch at a constant rate. I'll try switching injectors and see how that works.
