I don't know about an LS1, but I'm told on an LS6 1 7/8" with 3" h picks up like 8-10 whp over smaller headers and h pipes without any loss in torque. The gains are from 5000+, but I imagine that window widens once you add a cam, ported heads, FAST intake, etc.

Have you thought about kooks?

Maryland speed has a great sale right now and they're quality parts.

I'm waiting for the Pfadt Tri-Y's. No way I will go with any other brand, period. Do a search and look at the C6 versions that they already released. The craftsmanship is so far ahead of any of the others you mentioned it's almost embarrassing. They are works of art with some of the sweetest welds you will ever see. They are working on C5 versions as we speak but say they have no ETA when they will be available. I'm guessing a few months still. From what I'm reading from the C6 crowd, the power numbers are better from the Pfadt Tri-Ys than the 4 to 1 headers available. Hype? No clue but there have been several dyno sheets showing it. For me, it's the quality difference that sold me. Just look at them and you will see what I'm talking about.

American Racing headers have EXCELLENT Craftsmanship and I have NEVER seen ANYONE have any issues with their welding, fitment or build quality.

I would love to see the C5 dyno results between AR and TriY when they become available
How much do you think the TriY headers will be for such superior performance results on a C5??

There a few bucks short of $1900 ( with CATs) ARs are $100 less for the C6. The performance increase for the C6 looks good. How will they work on a C5 with less displacement.

Not doubting the TriYs are solid performers but,, they are equal to the build quality of the AR headers.

I agree, buy from the Clown! That is a good deal! And, those headers have nice long primaries for good torque.

AR or LG, can't go wrong. The LG also have nice long primaries.

I have the XS Power I bought used, completely satisfied.

Kooks? Ever read a post that said anything other than they are a complete pain in the butt to install? Why go to that trouble for no gain over the competition?

The Pfadt Tri Y? I believe the 346 will love them and the gains good. If money is no object, go for it.

Clown has the best buy your going to find....that is a deal!

Kooks, ARH, LG, Stainless Works. All are great quality and you will not go wrong with any brand listed.

I just installed a set of Stainless Works 17/8 w highflow cats and 3" x pipe.
The install went very well and the fit is excellent.

Getting it tuned next week. Will tell you there is an improvement all through the rpm range with the most noticed lowend to midrange.

Not knocking the AR's at all. I'm sure they are built well as are the LG's. Those are the two I've looked at since owning a C5. To me though, the Pfadts are another level. Almost art. Almost too pretty to use! If they perform as good or maybe less than say the AR's do, I want them. If they perform as good or better, awesome!
I tried to find some good pics of the AR's to compare but didn't have any luck. From what I saw, they are nice but don't look as nice as the Pfadts do to me. TO ME. I stress that and it's just my opinion which means nothing so please don't get upset. in my eyes, the quality of the finish, welds, and flanges simply make me feel they are better quality package. Again, just opinion.
Look at the bottom of this page. The thumbnails will blow up to high res photos. All the pics do actually. They really are beautiful exhaust systems/headers.

Yours is the first post I've read saying the kooks were a pita to install. They have great welds/craftsmanship and are one of the top headers.

LG's out of the two mentioned. Give Stainless Works a look too.

LGs would be my first choice, then ARs.

What else are you doing to the engine??

Go Premium, choose Stainless Works! All USA made from 304L material and as noted gets many reviews of excellent fit and finish. Choose either 1-3/4" or 1-7/8" with a 3" X-Pipe, expect gains of 25+ HP from a simple exhaust change.

Why choose 304L? The "L" designation means when TIG welded, the welds will not rust which is another added benefit of a quality product all the way through.
