Does installing a skip shift eliminator make the mpgs on the car go down? Or improve mpgs? If it improves, can anyone recommend a good one? I see a few on amazon.com
thanks
It slightly improved mpg in EPA testing (unfortunately), which is why this universally despised feature exists.
In the real world, it probably hurts mileage more than helps as drivers accelerate quicker to avoid the 1-4 skip shift from engaging. That said, I doubt you will find a measurable difference in mpg with or without it.
What you will find is a far more enjoyable driving experience without this POS feature intruding.
I saw no difference in MPG with or without the skip shift eliminator. I got mine from LG Motorsports because they claimed no check engine light. So far, which is 4 years, no check engine light. Hope this helps.
besides... before i disabled mine, i just gave it a potato after coming out of 1st & put it in 3rd. no problems. i normally drove around town shifting 1-3-5 anyway.

I just had mine tuned out by LG Motorsports. The MPG did not change.
