Default Spark Plugs

Hi all, what's the correct spark plug gap for AC Platinium plugs for a 2001? I know the owner's manual says 0.06 inches for the original Denso (#PTJ16R15) plugs. The auto parts store says the AC Delco plugs should be on 0.04. Which is correct? Thanks.

The current OEM replacement plug is ACDelco 41-110, and they are pregapped to .040

I double check them anyway before installing.

I tried the new spec .040 with the Iridium TR5 and it seemed a little low on power.. went back to .060 gap with a TR55 copper core and the power is back. FWIW

My results were the other way. I couldn't tell any difference in power but the idle was smoother with the Iridium's.

Ok, looks like the between the AC delco 41-110 and the AC delco 41-962 is Iridium vs. Platinium. I have the 41-962 which I'm ok with. I'm thinking I will just go with 0.06 on them and see how it runs?

New factory spec is .040" , original was .060". I gap to .050"-.055" and it helps smooth the idle as well as keeping close to the original planned spec for the engine. Generally you want the wider gap, but not at the sacrifice of idle and allowing misfires.

I would stay with .040.

i wonder how much of this is in your head

that gap difference might be worth 5-7hp tops

for those of you wondering what i mean, smaller gaps are more detonation resistant and safer, but, they make less power than larger gaps....which are more prone to detonation

Gapped mine by the manual (.060) and it ran horrible. Regapped to .040 and all is well.

Spark plug gap has been talked about here many many many times. Original gap was 60 then a TSB came out saying to reduce the gap to 40 instead.

Ditch the AC delcos, they are prone to have the pucks bust off. NGK TR55s are what you need.
