I just want to publicly thank Bill for spending 2 hours on the phone with me getting my windows back in operation. As most times I had been keeping up with what to do if the service ABS, service traction control, and all of the other crap that pops up. Sure enough it happened all of that hit my cluster. Well in cleaning the connector in the drivers side door I brilliantly decided to clean the male pins also, I suggest never doing that with the battery connected, I heard a pop which later was discovered to be a 25 amp fuse in the passenger floor. I think I ended up killing 3 25 amp fuses, well I got the wiring back together and everything appeared to be working except my windows both sides. I got in touch with Bill and he graciously help me over the phone, I felt like a spring jumping from side to side ohming this and checking voltage there. I guess Bill finally got satisfied with everything after about 2 hours and 1 discharged phone battery and said switch it on and try it. (we did try it a lot more times though) The windows went back to work like it never even happened. I don't know what made them start back working and don't even want to know. I just want Bill to know how much I appreciate his time today and his devotion to our cars. Thanks again Bill. Regards Steve Barnes, bracketshark.
He's helped me many times...and doesn't even know it. His threads and instructions/directions/wisdom have saved me a LOT of time/treasure and heartache.
I could sure use some of that BC help myself so I can get my windows working.
Call Steve... He touched EVERY wire and component in the LEFT & RIGHT door module circuit!!!!
Just kidding. What DTCs do you have??? Read the DIC and Post up the DTCs
I believe Steve had a Serial data buss issue. Once we ohmed out the serial data wires, he lost the NO COMMUNICATIONS message for the DCM and BINGO.
When the serial data buss is hosed up,, none of that stuff works correctly.
Look to the LEFT of the BCM and POP out the STAR Connector shorting bar on top of the connector that has FOUR wires and see if you gain manual control of the windows.
Bill
PS
Steve,, Thank You for posting and enjoy your operating windows.

Thank all of you for the kind words. I just enjoy this stuff too much not to help solve issues!

I have no DTCs popping up and I've been checking it daily for about a week now. Just the No Comm message on both the RDCM and LDCM. I checked for codes and cleared them out before I shut the engine off so it'd be ready for the next drive.

What do you mean by "manual control" of the windows? I only know of one way to control the windows and that's through the door switch.
The BCM can move the windows thru digital signals sent to the DCM through the serial data bus.
When you disconnect the STAR Buss, you isolate the DCMs from each other and the BCM
When you have the NO COMMUNICATIONS Message,, you have DTCs. YES,, that is a VERY important troubleshooting indication.
Disconnect the TOP of the STAR connector with FOUR wires and see if you regain control of the window.
IF, the DCMs don’t have power for BOTH fuses for each module (total four fuses, two for each module) the module will display NO COMMS.
If the ground for each module is bad, samething.
Make sure you have power (read with a meter) on all four fuses for the LDCM and RDCM. Fuses are in the passenger foot well fuse box.
Not only is he an asset to us less savy c5 owners but is retired navy man and still does work for the navy if i read his bio correctly. Thanks for your service to our great nation. U the man Bill. God Bless u my brother

Disconnected the top of the star connector and did not have any control over the windows. All four of the foot well fuses (30, 31, 33, 34) with the key on register at 0.00.
