Default Clutch Change

I've got a '97 with the need for a new clutch. The clutch doesn't engage well, and I'm pretty certain the plate's worn out. The previous owner even provided a new clutch kit with the car when I bought it a year ago :P

I don't have a lift, and no one I know has access to one. Not even a kwik lift. I'm thereby stuck doing this on jack stands. I've found a bunch of references to this link: http://www.cajundude.com/dopeinstall.doc but that page is dead, and I don't see the document reposted anywhere.

Does anyone have a how-to for removing the clutch on jack stands, rather than using a lift?

Thanks,
-Kyle

i do ALL my work on stands. Its easy. IMHO,, just go with a C5 ZO6 Clutch with a new pilot bearing, slave cyl, throw out bearing and a REMOTE BLEEDER!

I also highly recommend replacing the master as it will be severely gunked up inside. Ask me how I know>>

C5 Clutch. Have you researched BALANCING your clutch???????/ If not,,, you need to!

When the clutch is out,,, replace the Torque Tube Bushings!!!

What clutch did you get with the purchase?

Bill

Hey Guys...I really appreciate all of you sharing your experience and knowledge.

I have decided to bite the bullet and do it myself. Today I removed the drive U-Join, drive shaft and hurts shifter...strange that the U-Joint had no zerk fitting on it.

One of the things that was making me think of just having this done was that I benched pressed the Muncie in myself last time...laying it on my chest. Today I made this out of an extra well used floor jack I had. In the "cup/cradle" of the jack was a rivet, I removed it and welded a bolt on the bottom side...this way I can remove the black bracket. The black bracket was in my metal junk pile that was used to hold up a TV on the wall.
If I don't tighten up the bolt, I should be able to swivel the cradle. I'll strap it down and I should be good to go.....haaa...so he says.
