Default Tune up recommendation help!

My 98 C5 is due for a tune up and I'm wondering what people recommend to use for new spark plugs and wires? Which ones give the best performance and so on? Right now my engine is basically stock, has a cat back exhaust and I plan on getting a new air intake and a possibly getting a tuner in the near future. Thanks for any input!

The red GMPP Performance wires and AC Delco Iridium plugs are all you need. You will not see any difference in performance, or any performance gains, from plugs and wires other than that realized by replacing old parts.

I like NGK...never had any issues with them. I do have to say, the rear plugs are not too bad to get out. Oh, pick up a new set of wires...mine were destroyed by just removing them and so was the PCV hose.

I agree with Ed, any name brand Iridium plug will do the job. Remember to get a dab of anti-seizure paste on the threads of the new plug before you torque them!

And dielectric grease for the plug wires.

Go look at how many drag race teams use them from pro stock to top fuel. Also the owner is on yellow bullet and seems to be an awesome guy. Never heard one bad thing about him and everyone loves his wires. He will make wires any length and ends that you want.

I can understand using them if you need custom fits as most race engines require, but for stock applications they won't do anything more than the GMPP wires other than cost more. There is absolutely no performance gains to be had from plug wires, regardless of brand.

The updated OEM plug is ACDelco 41-110 (Iridium) and are pre-gapped to .040

I agree that on a stock car there would be no performance gain. If a person were to be running heavy boost or nitrous then thats differnt. I would still buy from him when I need new wires. He is a good honest car guy that offers the car community a lot of good help and advice on YB.

No, it's not different. On these LSx engines plug wires offer no performance gains regardless of application.

MSD wires and NGK plugs are what I run. I did the wires about 9 years ago and they are still going fine. The plugs I change every year or two since I run regular NGK copper. If you do not want to change the plugs a lot go with some iridium NGK plugs. I use to run those in my S10 Blazer. They offered 100k change intervals.

The AC Delco plugs have the same interval.
