Default codes

Pulled codes as ck eng lite came on. Shows P0442 which is not on the list. The instructions for operating the diagnostics isn't real clear for this owner. Even tried to reset. Isn't that supposed to clear the H?

Many times this code is related to a bad gas cap or gasket. A new cap is about $25 from the dealer. After replacing the cap, clear the code, fill the tank up, and run it down to just above empty to verify that the problem is solved.

Thanks guys. I did fill up after the ck eng lite had been on and it stayed so I will investigate the cap. It doesn't sound like a bad idea to drive the car, I hope. I'm out in the country so I have to order a cap.

Tell me if there's a problem to use the car.

The code list I had downloaded prior http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...d-ii-codes.php didn't go that low on numbers. Thanks for the more complete list.

There shouldn't be a problem driving the car. Are you getting any fuel smells?

No fuel smell. Are the gas caps generic?

Also check the vacuum hose on the passenger side of the throttle body, they get a hole in the bottom where there is a bend. Seen that with several members.
