Default Headers, egr or not?

Looking at headers for my car, currently have all the emissions gear on car, if I wanted to go without the egr tubes on headers, how mutch of a pita is it to loose the emissions gear to go to non egr headers.

Thanks

It is easy to do. There are Threads on doing it. I think I have one at home.

When removing the pump you just need to plug the vacuum line.

It is called the AIR system if you try to search.

The C5 LS-1/6 DOES NOT have an EGR system.
What you see are A.I.R. system (Air Injection Reaction) which helps heat up the CATs at cold start. You, can delete the system and all the parts BUT,, you have to have a TUNER change the error reporting to NOT report in the PCM or you will NOT pass emissions and will always see a Check Engine Light (CEL).

Thanks Bill, have not looked at the AIR in a long time. What actually throws the code if you remember? I know a problem check valve will do it also but never thought about why.

One advantage of doing away with the AIR system is that then you can order headers without the AIR tube on them. The AIR tube on the headers tends to vibrate and break off over time and it doesn't seem to matter what brand of headers you use. It's repairable, but who needs the hassel.

The PCM tells the A.I.R. pump to operate when conditions are good for it to test the function of the complete AIR system. If the O2 Sensors don't respond properly to the ADDED air in the exhaust system (either bank OR both) the PCM will throw the respective AIR system operation failure DTCs.

YES... It will be OK. Its the A.I.R. System.

You can confuse people when you say air system.

All its for is warming up the CATs at cold start.
