Default New Vette owner needs advice

I know there are probably some prior posts in here on the subject, however I just purchased a 2001 C5 and this my first experience with this type of vehicle. I've built streetrod, classics, etc in the past but this is all new to me. I am little leery of doing modifications due to the computer/ electronics on these vehicles. My first venture is to get a new muffler system or one that I can hear. My past street rods have always had Flowmaster or Magnaflow mufflers. The Corvette appears to be different with several options. I don't want to spend $1000 or more on a muffler system. Is there any recommendation on ways to improve the sound of my vette without tapping my life savings? It's stock right now, and a bit too quiet for my liking. Hope this isn't a stupid repetitive question.. Thanks guys.

Google By- pass mod for your exhaust. Cheap and sounds great at WOT with no drone.

QTP makes a great product with wireless remote. See this install at Post 3.

Exhaust Cut Outs is a better way to search. You can also listen to different installs on YouTube.

I went with a used Z06 Titanium exhaust. As you install more mods, the car becomes louder. The Ti exhaust will allow normal conversation but will really bark when you put your foot down. Best of all, they can be bought used for a reasonable price and absolutely do not drone like many of the aftermarket systems.

When you guys say "drone" what do you mean? I have kooks long tube headers, and straight pipes among other things. I absolutely love the way it sounds at an idle, and WOT, but normal driving I am not thrilled with the sound. I am thinking that sound might be the "drone" that people mentioned. I have considered changing the exhaust with electric cutouts for when i want to be louder.

Because I'm new to the terms in here, but my past experience tells me it is the same as "resonation." Several of the street rods I've built have that at certain rpm's. It will rattle your brains after a while. It usually occurs when you go to a bigger diameter pipe and free flow mufflers.

DRONE: The sound your wife makes when she goes on and on and on about something that happens 10 years back ..

Drone to me is that constant sound at highway speed that is loud enough to make you turn up the radio and that gives you a headache in about a half hour. In my experience Corsa make mufflers that do not drone - period. They also have models with varying loudness - from quiet like stock to loud. The problem is that good exhaust systems for your Vette are not cheap - in fact anything that is good quality for your Vette will not be cheap - it's a Corvette man! Save your money and enjoy your car.

Except the Z06 Ti mufflers, they have no drone and are relatively cheap.
I've had what I call drone at lower speeds. I consider drone what sounds and feels like a monotone hum, feels like it's pressurizing the cabin (windows closed or open) and your ears. Kinda like when your ears need to pop when dropping in an airplane.

since you mentioned magnaflow, my car came with the over the axle system with four tips and I am well satisfied. Even though I did not buy the part, they offered a full new system to replace mine , as a solution to a cracked weld on the middle plate with the name on it.
