a couple years ago, I took my car, a 2001 MN6, in to have new tires put on.
i was going to take the wheels off, and clean up everything, and find out that they never returned the wheel lock key to the storage place in the car. two years ago!
Never checked, becauseI have been going to these guys for years and years, and haven't had a tire problem.
Always reliable, and never a problem.
How do I go about identifying the wheel lock to get a new key?
I know of a corvette wrecking yard in town, and they might have some, but if the ones they have don't fit, now what?
I could probably use a nut buster, but there is one on all four wheels.
Don't want to mess up the locks in case I get a key.
Anybody run into this problem?

There is NO master key or place you can go to get ONE LIKE YOURS. They were unique to that set of locks.
I imagine that GM made a massive series of locks with a unique series of keys and over a period of time recycled the series of locks and keys. So,,,,,,,,,,, somewhere in the world there MIGHT be a key like yours.
I know that the dealership can use your VIN and cut an exact duplicate of your key. Don't know if its the same for the wheel lock set.
do you live in an area where Discount Tire has stores?
pretty sure they are in AZ
I know two managers of those places and both of their stores have a (for lack of better words) "remover" socket set for wheel locks
sort of a socket with teeth that gouge onto the lock itself when you drive it on with a hammer and has a 1/2" drive hole that you use to unscrew the lock
they told me they use them daily when people cannot find their key
you would have to get a new set of locks or buy something like the Gorilla set where every nut is splined

Got a picture of one? My car came with no locks. If they are made by McGaurd I have the master sets that Honda used.
I'm sure a the GM dealer has a set of keys
alas, I had gummy residue there when I bought the car. it was apparent that there was a sticker there, but it isn't in the car anymore. I cleaned off the gum.
I have owned the car for 10 years, and it was gone by the time I got the car.
Maybe if I got a pic of the lock to Gorilla, they might be able to reproduce the key.
Thanks

I am proud that I finally have a picture of a part of the car that Bill Curlee does not!
Is that from GM, looks like aftermarket. My locks had a card that came with the GM locks that had a number associated with the nuts such that a lost socket could be replaced. Did you buy the car used, if not check your glove box or console for the identification card from GM.
Well, learned something new. Bought my car used, but I thought that was a standard thing.
The locks MAY be standard, IIRC, but they didn't come from Gorilla. I've had 3 GM cars that came with OE locks, my Corvette included, and there was an ID card in the glove compartment with the name of the supplier, their contact info, and the lock number. Unfortunately, I lost track of which card goes with which lock set, so although I kept the info, it isn't too useful.....
I wound up using McGard locks, because I use 2 locks per wheel, and order them directly from McGard, with matching lock patterns. That way, I need only one key for all the locks, and I also have a spare key, as each set of 4 locks comes with one.
