i am looking for the part number of the ac/delco shocks of a 2003 corvette 50th edition i want to go back to original electro-magnetic shocks and also does it have to have a sport option shock or is there a difference.. 1987rf
If your car came with RPO F55 (Magnet Selective Ride Control) and you want to replace them with the same style shocks then you have only one choice and that is the GM part. Those shocks are not made by any other manufacturer. If you get them from the dealer expect to pay more than $4,000 for the four shocks. If you purchase them from one of the Forum vendors you will still pay more than $2500 for all four. Similar prices if you can find a GM Parts supplier on the Internet.
To replace them with conventional shocks is possible but you have to find someone with a TECH II to program them out of the BCM. Failure to do so while replacing with conventional shocks will result in the computer limiting the max speed to 80mph along with a message in the DIC stating that has happened.

with both of the above posts. Replacing the shocks with OEM F55 shocks will cost you a fortune. Only you can decide whether it is worth that expense or not, but I would keep the non-F55 shocks on the car and keep the money for other upgrades/maintenance needs as they may arise.
The F55's do not have any type of "simulators" so to avoid DIC messages if you do not replace them with correct ones you need to delete the RPO with a Tech 2 using the following guidance. Even buying a Tech 2 would be much cheaper than getting the F55 shocks.
This must be done EXACTLY as written.
1. Hook up your Tech 2, turn the car ON, make sure the module in the left rear storage compartment (pull back the velcro lining on the front of the compartment) is plugged in. DO NOT UNPLUG THIS MODULE
2. Now use the Tech 2 to delete the F45 option ( F55 option does not appear on the Tech 2 menu screen - SO - DELETE THE F45 OPTION
(use the screen captures - steps 2-14)
3. Save the new configuration
4. DO NOT TURN THE CAR OFF DO NOT REMOVE THE TECH 2 Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the GRAY connector - IT IS THE WIDEST ONE - leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in.
5. Turn off the car but LEAVE THE TECH 2 PLUGGED IN
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of the car - Never plug them back in again, if you do the F/45 or F55 turns on automatically.
7. Now the moment of TRUTH - Turn the car on and verify that the dreaded - MAX SPEED 80 MPH - is gone. This message is only present if you had already disconnected the shock sensors. Some people have had to disconnect their battery to allow the computer to reset to remove this message, but I would confirm with the Tech II that the F45 or F55 was actually deleted first and if not reconnect everything and start again with step 1.

I changed to Bilstein Sport shocks on my 03 50th conv., and so has another friend. We can't tell any difference in ride or handling (as long as you normally kept the F55 in the "Sport" mode). If you normally kept it in the "Tour" position, might want to use the Bilstein HD shocks, which are softer riding).
Zero change in hgt. as well.
Follow the great advise from the previous posters!
