I have a 2000 FRC. Today I had the TPMSs taken out of my C5 wheels b/c tomorrow I'm taking some C6 wheels in for new tires, which will then be put on my C5. The service center said they could put them in my C6 wheels tomorrow.
Do I need to do anything to the TPMS beforehand? Do they need new batteries just to play it safe (they were working just fine while in the C5 wheels)? Should I insist on new valve stems? I noticed 3 of 4 have small blue dots. Is there a reason why one of them doesn't? Do they have to go in a certain order (Front Driver, Front Passenger, Rear Driver, Rear Passenger)?
What you probably should have done was purchase 4 new TPMS before having the swap done. This way you know for sure that you got anywhere from 7 to 10 yrs use out of them.
Like 8VETTE7 said, doing it this way your living on borrowed time. Would really suck if one crapped out on you after all of the work is done.
You'll be taking it back to the shop to have it replaced.
At the very least get a kit to replace the stems, seals and mounting nuts
