screw saving gas, if I wanted to do that I'd have a hybird
To each his own. I have the skip shift eliminated. But I still shift to fourth after taking off in first. Its just less shifting. With a stock cam its pretty easy to do.

I have mine eliminated as well but I always rev high enough in 1st from a takeoff that even if the skip shift was still working it would allow me to shift to 2nd anyway... I just think the whole idea is stupid, if someone wants to shift from 1-4 no problem but it is a problem when the car is trying to force me
I have a skip shift eliminator, I've had one since the car was new. One warning, when you install it use a zip-tie to make sure it's up and away from the exhaust I've seen some melt when they are too close.
Done a long time ago... My Challenger R/T also had it and I disconnected that one as well. Cheap, easy, and done. Basically, I agree with neutron82. GM had to do something to get their CAFE numbers up and that was one of them.

I have an extra skip shift eliminator if anyone needs it, just cover shipping... when I did my tr6060 swap I discovered that there was one already installed on my car but I have hptuners so I don't need the eliminator
If you just disconnect it, you will throw a DTC and a CEL. Get a CAGS Eliminator OR Have it tuned out.
When my ZO6 still had it, I drove the car aggressively enough to not even know its was there. All you have to do is accelerate a little more aggressively than normal.
If, you are foced to drive it slow enough to cause it to function, You will see the 1st-4th light on the dash before you shift and can hold first a little longer or accelerate a little more and the light will go out.
I've learned to live with it. I rarely hit it anymore, and on the rare occasions I do, I've learned to do the 1st to 4th and quick up to 3rd gear shift.
