Yes, you are correct they will replace it, no problem there, just frustrating to go out and try and take your new vette on an evening ride with the top down, only to have it go click, click, click :yesnod: Plus I have to go to work in the morning, and dont have a lot of time for this :bs
I 'm with you on the frustration factor. My car is also my daily driver, but it has been at the dealership body shop for over 3 months now. The only thing that is helping me to cope with the wait is that it looks like they are doing a good job with the repair. But I am starting to go   . Hope your back on the road soon!
Well, I am about to go crazy as well  :yesnod: I called my dealer this morning and told them I had the battery with me, because I didnt want to jump my car and drive it with a bad battery. They called around to find me a battery, called me back and told me where to pick it up. I was okay with this, because I would rather do it myself, and they knew that. So I get off work, drive through :cuss :cuss rush hour traffic, get there, lug my old battery in, in my shirt and tie, the guy goes in the back to get my battery and comes out with..............................a f-ing lead acid battery. At which time I politely explained I needed a special AGM battery, to which he said "we don't have any of those" Ah, yes fun, fun, fun :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :boxing :boxing :boxing Well, I called the dealer back, they apologized, and are now coming out tommorrow to my house which is an hour away from their dealership to fix it. Which is cool on their part.
Well, to update everyone, I took the battery to an auto parts store to be tested, and possibly charged if still good, they told me the battery was no good. Great, brand new car, dead battery. Acdelco sure makes some good stuff :mad This is the second C5 that Ive had a major problem within two weeks of ownership :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad
I don't really believe you can do proper tests on a battery until it has been fully charged. IMO somebody was just trying to sell you a new battery.
I think the battery is fine it just needs an overnight charge for 8 hours at least.
New cars aren't very forgiving on low voltage as most starter motors are now permanent magnet instead of the old wound type which would crank at a lower voltage. Also it takes several hours of driving to put a low battery all the way back. Just charge it overnight before you spend money.
I share your pain with the battery issues. When my AGM battery needed to be replaced, there was only one in the state of Texas at the time. The replacement Delco AGM has been solid as rock since Dec 2001 (or 9 to 10 months). The first one was a weak sister that would not hold a charge.
