Also from reading it may cost less to buy a rear cover with the seal installed than to buy the seal and replace it yourself.
You would have to separate the torque to tube from motor to get to the seal. Is this an auto or manual?

I understand the cross member needs to be removed, is this true? and if so does the motor need to be supported with a cherry picker?

People vary on how complete they drop the assembly.
Pull the intake manifold to keep it from possibly hitting the firewall, especially if you have a FAST.
I separate the upper rear A arms rather than ball joints. I have done clutch swaps but not an Auto.
We would drop the rear suspension/subframe as 1 unit with the trans/diff/torque tube on a transmission jack still in the car.
Next pull the trans/diff/torque tube as 1 unit.
The transmission jack is really worth it and a friend if nothing else to keep an eye on clearance/snags on various wires, brake lines etc.
