Default Valve train noise

Hello folks, I'm just throwing this out there , it seems ever since I upgraded my valve train to dual valve springs and trunion upgrade (all BTR products) on my 98 LS1 so it was done when I add a higher lift cam in the future , it appears I hear more upper valve train ticking noises, is this a normal characteristic of the dual springs or could it be the rockers with the trunion upgrade need adjustment.

I have no power loss, the drive ability seems to be the same!

Magna charger MP112 , mainly stock Motor other then typical exhaust mods!!

Thanks for any input

Maybe its the heavier load on the valve-train.
I think one reason why LS engines are loud is because of the lifter retainers shape (like a horn) amplifying the noise.

Are yours always loud? How bad is it?

My other car, an LS2 had dual springs, cam, hardened push rods and the valve train noise is much more noticeable since then. It's the norm and I've gotten used to it now.

Its not dramatic , I just noticed the difference, as I notice all strange noises. My buddy who did the work for me knows his stuff so I am confident it has nothing to do with his work, but things that have been said in these posts make sense, I also have a good friend who has a 05 LS2 and since he modded with a cam, springs, SC'er, he says his is louder also, so I guess its a LS thing.

I wont worry about it then, was just curious, appreciate the feedback

LS1/6 Lifters are not the most reliable lifters. If you added a higher pound spring, the lifters may not be fully up to par keeping up with the proper bleed down rate or keeping the correct preload on the push rod/rocker assy.

My buddy had to go to a set of better quality linked lifters because the added spring pressure caused more valve trrain noise than he wanted.

I went with Caddy Racing lifters and they worked EXCELLENT!!!!!!

Wait you added dual springs without the cam?

You are correct, polished Rockers and trunion upgrade so movement is not limited as with old trunion design. Has a Maggie on it and , just not using the extra lift with LS6 cam, when Higher lift cam is installed will only need different size push rods then to accomadate higher lift cam!!!!

I only said that because I thought I saw a few years ago on here somewhere some guys talking about dual spring pressure on a stock cam.

A little birdie told me to change oil to 0W40 for our hot summers, and no kiddin , the valve-train noise diminished by 90% , good tip for us Vet owners in the southwest region

Double springs and stock pushrods equals pushrod flex. I would up the OD of your pushrods as you are likely getting valve bounce in the upper RPM. You won't feel it or notice it until it bites you.

I have the stock rockers with BTR trunion (with dual valve springs) up grade with no valvetrain noise. I mean no sewing machine type noise. Something does not sound right with your set up. Go back the 30 weight oil and if your oil pressure is low, idling after running about 30 minutes, it could be you oil sensor is on its way out.
