Default Diff swap, what seal ?

Hi,

I'm MN6 and plan to swap my broken stock 3.42 diff for the 3.15 diff from my spare c5 (who is an auto)
First, i pull the 3.15 diif, and we hurt the trans output shaft seal
So, i was looki,g for buy some seal, but as this seal (ref acdelco 24228816) is only for auto (and i will use the diff on my stick vette), does i simply have to remove this seal ?

Also, does i have to change the two rear axle seal (they seems to be good) or can i reinstall axle without new seal (ref is 88996703) ?

Thanks

The seal/aluminum piece that says trans side in pic will not be used if going into manual transmission just remove it but you will need a new o ring seal where the trans mounts to diff

For what it's worth, I reused my o-ring when reinstalling my diff, and laid a bead of RTV around the perimeter to help seal it.

If the diff is out, it's cheap insurance to replace them, since they're easy to get to.

CHANGE the OUTPUT SHAFT SEALS! They seldon survive and will leak soon after you get that new differential in.

Its an easy and cost wise replacement while its all apart!

Make SURe that you use the correct 75/90 Differential lube with the limited Slip additive.

Are the two limited slip beliview springs inside the limited slip clutch packs good??? Most are CRACKED and can fail and damage the differential.

I sure would check before I installed it.

Here are a couple of post for you to see what you are up against:

I will try to find them but i think my spare diff had new on them when i bye the entire spare car (and i use this car less than 1 year)

I have to check for having them faster as they purpose (as i live in europe, shop usualy speak about delivery between Nov. 6 and Nov. 10 and i will use them the 4 Nov

Also, they will cost 3 or 4x more (cause ship/fee/custom...)

And for upgrade, i plan to going C6Z gearbox/diff, this diff if just for putting back on the road asap ^^
