Default Chrome rims peeling

I have a 97 and I believe it was a car kept up north. It has corrosion on the rims and some under carriage rust. I love the car so I am not concerned about that. My rims are peeling. Is this rim available for purchase anywhere? Is it worth having them re-

plated?
thanks for your help

I really like the rims too

I just went through this, they can redo these at $125.00 a rim or you can get replacement new rims aftermarket for a lot more money.

You might get real luck and find someone selling theirs but beware of the rim barrels, as they are the first to get pitted.

Thank you. What do you mean when you say rim barrels and the first to get pitted?

I have similar wheels, chromed reproductions with simulated rivets. Love the look. The peeling not so much. Apparently, chrome wheels are nearly famous for such problems, and that's supposedly why GM didn't do them at factory. Yes, check the backside of the spokes for GM markings. GM, maybe re-plate. Non-GM, either replace with new chrome reproductions, or do what many of us do, keep watching the for sale page for a set of polished GMs that don't cost and arm, leg, and left ********.

The barrel is the wide part of the rim (back side of tire). When you look at the front of the wheel you see the lip - when you look at the back side you see the deep part - the barrel.
