Default FAST intake

Is it worth the expense to add a 90 mm intake & TB with stock heads?

I SECOND that NO!! Your heads will become the choke point. Yes you will gain some HP/TQ but nothing close to the real potential of adding the manifold with supporting mods.,
The cost of relaying on that mod to give you a minimal increase in power and the fact that you will most likely need a tune to make it run right further more makes the cost factor a major detractor.

Think if the OP has a car with an ls1 intake it would be worth it, no? Guess it depends on the goals long term, too. LS6 intake was a great upgrade to my 2000 z28 back in the day, these days I think Id skip it and go straight to a FAST. Would give you more room to grow if you decide to add cam or heads later.

If you have a later car though with the ls6 intake, I wouldn't mess with it. Think 01 and up had ls6 intakes, but can tell for sure by the part number.

So do you still have the stock 241 heads on your LS1 or do you have the 243 heads from the LS6? Do you have long tube headers or an aftermarket camshaft? If you have still have the stock 241 heads, stock LS1 camshaft and stock cast exhaust manifolds, then there is no reason to upgrade to the FAST intake manifold right now.

There are plenty of folks out there making well over 400 rwhp with the stock unported LS6 intake manifold and 78mm LS6 throttle body.

How do you tell which heads? I do have Vararam CA, long tube (1 7/8”), high flow cats and Corsa cat backs.

Then Id agree, seems like a waste at this point on stock heads.

You should have 241's but you can check on the front passenger corner of the head near the oil fill. Should be a 3 digit casting number, 4 in this example but you get the idea.

The FAST will give you more HP/TQ but, to just add it over a LS6 with out any other supporting mods, IMHO doesn't justify the cost of: The FAST intake, The 90mm TB, the wiring harness needed for the 90mm TB conversion, tuning required,

and stock cam?... definitely not worth it, do heads and cam first and see how you like it... if you still need to squeeze every last bit out of the setup then consider the fast intake or skip it and go with boost instead

I agree, not worth the money or the effort. You will find the heads present a wall to the incoming air due to the larger ports on the FAST. You may actually lose power as a result. Ask me how I know this
