thoughts?
My first thought is that it's amazing how scary it is just to read the 'pull key' email title. Not a happy memory. I've noticed on my '99 that if I'm remotely too quick to try to re-start, the LMC5 will not have had time to reset -- not suggesting you aren't waiting long enough, but wondering if the LMC5 is having a reset issue -- has anyone contacted Compliance Parts?

I agree with redgz. The original lock was mechanical, and took time to move... There is a delay required before the bypass reports back that the lock is open. Are you waiting a few seconds?
Also, what happens if you actually do pull the key and wait 10 seconds?
Each time I have got that message... pulling the key would work. Again... waiting a few seconds to allow the 'simulated' lock to move.
