So I got a a warning for posting ..on a thread that was clearly labeled free.....so later in that post he’s asking for some money obviously..yada yada it continues on u gotta read the post...anyways I ge cited for a warning for posting . It looks like it should be in the scrap yard or given away for a 1$ . Guess this site is filled with commie little people that like to repress the unites states freedom of speech and just play cation to their own financial gains rather then having people gain insight about what they were getting into . Ya bite the big one ....Warning I got your your warning hanging . Ban me oh well ....it just goes to show this server should prob be in Asia with all the restrictions. I got a warning a few weeks ago for mentioning selling SC kit etc, without making a post with a price etc.

It's whatever, I get the desire to protect members. But I think the rules are pretty silly and people can easily bypass them. Common sense, buyer/seller protection like paypal offers, is what it all comes down to doing online dealings IMO.

I've been on forums with far more strict rules. I can live/comply with these lol.

I've been warned at least a couple times for trying to protect people from buying 15 year old tires thinking they're ok to use, telling guys they're asking several hundred dollars more than brand new retail price, etc in the classifieds. I was upset at the first one because that's a safety issue and we're being told to keep our mouths shut and just allow unknowing buyers to buy dangerous tires. That "free C5" post is BS, I agree.

 

The free c5 post is bs because he says free in the title then changes his price but we don’t have a rule about changing the price that I know of. Why are you worried about old tires? Did you buy some old tires?

Are you not worried about old tires...? Buying used tires is not the same as buying old tires. There have been plenty people on here trying to sell 15-20 year old OEM wheels and tires, or just tires, as if they're more valuable (or valuable at all). Back in the day, before I knew what an EPA number was on a tire, saving a good chunk of change on used tires looked like a great idea. And still does to tons of unknowing people. I believe 6-7 years old is the general concensus of "acceptable". I've personally had a 10 year old tire delaminate on my lifted Jeep and it's a good thing I was only going about 30mph on city streets when it happened. You want a tire coming apart at highway speeds on a lifted Jeep just as much you want one coming apart on your Corvette while carving a corner. Just not worth it.

Not worried about old tires nope. I think it’s buyer beware on used stuff. But if someone lies or defrauds someone that’s different. And yeah I think it’s important for the mods to keep people who are not interested in the item for sale from jacking someone’s thread. The value of something is subjective, maybe people want old tires for something? Age correct tires for a restoration maybe?

 

I understand where you're coming from and can play devil's advocate all day as well haha. I'm not talking about posting "don't sell these! you're a criminal! these are dangerous!" on the thread, I'm talking about being able to provide a heads up to unsuspecting buyers (and even sellers) that driving on old tires can be dangerous. If they want to buy them for something else as you've mentioned, or they KNOW the risk and still choose to drive on them, there's no issue there. I hear you on the buyer beware thing and typically agree, but not in the case of 10+ year old tires. Part of the appeal of a forum community is helping eachother out. There shouldn't be anything wrong with simply providing information that could help save someone's life if one or both parties are not aware of the possibilities. It doesn't hurt anything if both parties already know, but it could help someone that doesn't
