What is your goal, cleaning or replacement with new? I’ve had all carpets out for cleaning so I’ll tell you what I did. Maybe it’s technical advice for removal you’re after though.. Most of the rear sections are self explanatory but still try to take note of which overlaps where.
I suspect the factory insulation pieces underneath the main left and right carpets are likely to be the most troublesome. I’ve no idea if new carpets come with these attached but old ones may have been wet/damp etc so will have become detached through the passage of time. The black rubberised backing behind the main carpet can also split. I did some repairs to the black backing with webbed tape and hybrid (rubber like) sealant.
There are separate but stuck down portions of thick sound absorbing cloth like material both below and to each side of the main carpets. There is also a section of what is like less solid than wood, but more solid than cardboard that sits against the trans tunnel. This was done for in my car.
I removed all the thick deadening type material (some not easy- used a heat gun to melt the glue) and replaced it all with a couple of different types of carpet underlay (that’s what we call it in the UK, the layer beneath household carpet). I had to use the old pieces as a template.

If it’s tech advice, there is a bit of time involved to remove everything. Seats out, plastic sill plates popped off, plastic footrest and drivers accelerator pedal stop to come off. All sorts of bits and pieces but it’s fairly self explanatory as you go.

I had mine all out last winter. I found it to be an easy job. While you have it out, you might as well install some sound deadening and sound absorption. (the silver stuff is deadening and the black is absorption) It really cut down road noise.
My suggestion would be to check Vettenuts for good used, rather than the ACC kits everybody carries. The ACC is very similar to original, but the molded shape is not the same, you have to trim each piece to fit, and on my set there were burn marks, deformed mass backing, and the edge binding around the parking brake was so poor I cut it off and used plastic door edging instead.
My (vert) rear section is perfect so only want/need to do the passenger compartment. Tried finding at corvette nuts and no dice. Some questions-
1- Essex vs cut pile- seems like Essex way to go Any Downsides?
2- Where does one find the OEM color to select right? Mine is a tan/camel/beige color.

I changed my interior from tan to black last year. All my carpet was from eBay and was in great condition. You can order piece by piece as needed like I did and get it done over a couple weeks or so, with guaranteed factory match color
Give yourself plenty of time. The worst part is getting some of the plastic trim out, but there’s some videos on YouTube that help. Maybe do the front one weekend, then the back afterward. It’s not hard, but you will need a set of panel removal tools and a little patience. Also a good idea to bag and tag all the little push in connectors as you go.
I went full bore with sound dreading, foam, and MLV layers but that’s a bit of work. I would recommend laying down some Kilmat on the large flat surfaces and for sure on the wall behind the seats. You don’t have to cover every square inch and it doesn’t need to be perfect, just hit the big panels that tend to resonate.
I bought this stuff on Amazon. The trim tools are excellent quality. If you get the Kilmat you will need a roller and work gloves. The edges of that stuff will give you a ration of paper cuts without gloves.

I know this is an old thread, but how did it turn out appearance wise? I have the same interior and the carpet is shot, I was thinking black carpet would really look good against the tan trim vs the stock color. Might have been light oak when new, now more like medium nasty oak.

It turned out great and is still holding up just fine. Remember that besides the carpet you'll likely want to change out all the plastic trim from oak to black to match it all up

Thats 100% what I did on my 02 ZO6. Made a world of difference in noise reduction and heat reduction
. I also put some foil covered bubble wrap on the center console areas. I removed the Jute under layment and used some heavy duty carpet cleaner on my carpets. Got them good and wet Soaped them up, scrubbed them with a stiff nylon brush and hosed them clean. Let them dry in the sun. Thay came like new clean. Smelled much better too.

I actually like the contrast of the black and tan (decades ago when I was a drinker it was a favorite). I think just the carpet being black and leaving the rest will look pretty good. Maybe the rocker's, they do get scuffed up a bit entering and exiting.
