n o because u said u hear it when ur driving. Any way that is a mechanical sound.
I know u dont want to do this but take out the cv if u dont wantt to drive it tell something shows its face. This is what i would do if i cant figure it out. Dont do it if ur not comfortable with this. U have to do something because its not going away.
i have no problem taking it out. I don t hear it when driving.. only when on q jacks, mostly when wheels are off.. put the wheels on and seemed not quite as loud, is why i am thinking had something to do with tc.. seeing as they are spinning easily and neither one is getting traction..

It could be that they're extended and pulling the joints out a little bit of CV's I don't understand traction control it has nothing to do with that noise If I'm understanding you properly

yes, you are understanding me.. i have jack the a arms up and made them somewhat normal level.
just thought with tc one is spinning and other trying to bite, to no avail. and keeps kicking in and out in the diff.. ok.. will discard that thought.
Could be one of your E Brake shoes hanging up and grabbing. Seen that before. Obtain and use a mechanics stethoscope. That will allow you to pinpoint the source location of the noise. Without the tire/rim on the rotor/hub, it is free to move on the wheel/hub studs. put a wheel lug on one of the studs to secure it to the hub and see if the noise goes away.
well, this is embarrassing. The resident expert, Bill Curlee nailed it.. I never assumed the clunking was caused by the caliper wobbling because it was not
tight against the hub.. put a cpl nuts on and tried again. run it up to 4th gear and steady rpm and checked it at 45 mph, and no noise. Sometimes, one cannot " see the forest for the trees" but, the bearing was a little lose, and would have never caught it wasn t for clunking and who knows how that could have ended. I am sorry i kept pounding a few folks on this, i was at wits end, was short of pulling the half shaft, but i don t think i was doing that, was going to wait for the fail. Helga was a great help with his suggestions. The Master Bill Curlee comes through, i really appreciate all the input from everyone. Lesson learned for me. Have only been hot rodding for 50+ years with a little break in there.
take care, stay safe. come on spring..
