Default Differential driver side leaking !!!

I'm going to fix the leak (driver side cover) differential I know there is stud need to take off but my question is I jack the car from (crossmember) under differential is that will be affect the stud ? I mean it's going to apply pressure to the stud or change the balance or it's wrong to jack the car from there ? I need to make sure before I took the stud off ? I don't know if I am supposed to jack the car from there or from the side ?

This is how I jack the car

Do I am ready to take the stud off yes or no?
I don't want to take the stud off then I can't put it back because the way I jack the car ...?

You're not getting the diff out without dropping that cradle. You need to move the rear jackstands to under the frame rails are the factory tie down points. Unless you're pulling that side cover with the diff in the car. Remember, there's a rubber mount between the cradle and any tension on the driveline so yank that stud, the other 4 fasteners will keep everything from shifting.

Yes you can remove that stud. It's 1 of 5 fasteners holding the diff to the transmission.

You are good to go, don't forget to use the red sealant for the cover.

Mine persistently leaked on the passenger side even after new output shaft seals (2x GM), and all new O-rings, and new axle. The only fix for me was to replace the diff's pressure vent valve with an open vent line. And yes I tried a new GM vent valve...

I can't take the stud out there's no space and impossible to find the net that will be work and fit with the stud so I end up to weld the net to the stud and this time they come off easy .what you think guys do l can use the stud again or no ?

If you jam 2 nuts together you can then spin the stud out as well. Grind the weld off and see what's left of the stud.

Believing men the mechanic guy he's my friend he come from the shop to my home to try to take it out the stud it's only enough for the OEM nut l took it out I can't find any two-nut thinner to go together there I cut two nuts the both to make it fit there no luck they get spin together and no space even for the winch to hold it ..the nut inside start to spin destroyed the thread so doesn't work .. once l weld the nut they come off very easy. So ldon't know if l can add a washer to same stud to make it work

Is there any aftermarket stud to replace the OEM ?

... I ordered the stud and lwill take a while to get it my question is do l can install the cover back and finish everything and add the differential oil and I'm not going to drive the car until l get the stud to install ..is that okay or no ? or l just wait for the stud to install the cover same time ?
By the way do I need to torque the bolts for the cover than after that install the stud or no ?

My recommendation is to wait until you get the stud in your hand and confirm that the stud will thread nicely into the cover…You don’t want to find out the stud thread pitch is wrong after you gone through all that work with sealing the side cover…

From someone that has been there, here are a few assembly tips for you to get a fix the first time

Assembly aid to ensure you do not shave or damage the side cover “O” ring during cover install
Assembly Aid> Side Cover Dowels Pins

To reduce the risk of side cover “O” damage (pinching/cutting the “O” ring) and/or bolt hole to cover misalignment during installation of the side cover;

Make from bolts M8X1.25 X 80mm or equivalent. Cut the heads off the bolts, thread into the case “by HAND ONLY” slide cover on to the dowels and install the cover on the case.

See pics in this link C5 [PICS] Differential Clutch Packs Replacement Tips - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

Sealing the side cover;

Bulletin No.: 03-04-20-006

1997 - 2004 Corvette: Service Bulletin: Fluid Leak at Rear Axle (Replace Left Differential Side Cover 0-Ring and Left Axle Shaft Seal, Add Sealant to Side Cover Flange)

Sealing procedure

17. Loosen the nut retaining the transmission to the transmission LH mounting stud.

18. Install a second nut onto the stud.

19. Remove the stud from the differential cover.

20. Clean any dirt or debris from around the differential cover

21. Remove the bolts retaining the differential cover.

22. Remove the differential cover from the differential.

23. Remove and discard the 0-ring seal and the axle seal from the differential cover.

24. Clean the 0-ring sealing surface on the differential cover and the differential housing.

25. Install new 0-ring, P/N 89047953, to the differential cover.

26. Apply a continuous 3 mm (0.125 in) bead of sealant, P/N 1052942 (Canadian P/N 10953466), or equivalent, to the cover flange. >>>>Google the GM sealant P/N to find an equivalent.

27. Apply sealant around the bolt holes.

Keep sealant away from the 0-ring.

28. Install the differential cover to the differential.
29. Install the differential cover retaining bolts >>>just snug up these bolts.
30. Clean the excess sealant from the left cover/housing splitline.
31. Using two nuts installed on the stud, install the transmission mounting stud to the differential cover. (ensure you are not cross-threading this stud in the cover.
After confirming the stud is propery threading in the cover, torque the side cover bolts, clean the excess sealant from the left cover/housing splitline.tourque stud/nut

Next, crack open your favorite beverage and admire a job well done!
Cheers,
Goose
