I mentioned 2001 because that was what you had posted earlier, you can buy a LMC5 and try that, their only around 50 dollars and relatively easy to install.
Yes- do this. You can "jump over" a lot of your problems (column lock, 2mph shut off, pull key..) with a LCM5. Also, do the "brown wire mod."
So, I can drive my car now. BUT.... I have an air bag lite, Active handling, Traction Control, ABS. AND this, my steering wheel telescopic moves in and out with the seat tilt switch. Does anyone want to tackle these? lol
Ed you have made amazing progress! Do you have a FSM? Since your problems are almost all electrical, having a schematics handy will certainly help.
As you probably have found, your solutions are found in cleaning connections and new relays- the charts will help you identify commonalities.
For example, your seat movement and steering wheel are mostly likely connected to your memory feature which will activate with keys, doors and buttons.
Thank you. today, I cleaned the 2 front grounding points. It had no affect. Do you think I might clean the driver's door electrical connections again to correct the telescopic weirdness? I've read about removing the EBCM and soldering the 5 points. Not sure I'm up to that, yet. looks scary and difficult to me. It runs and drives like a new car (41,000) miles. I love the car, but I am very peculiar when it comes to my cars. It should be perfect. Although I know I will probably have problems on and off, because of the salt water that it has been in. The water line was half way up on the door control modules. I saw this when I opened up both modules. I have checked all the connections to the wheels. The electrical connections were all good. I do have to replace the air conditioner lower pulleys. (making noise) Air bag lite is on also.
Making steady progress, did you ever have all the factory options programed in to the BCM, the options are programed by entering your cars vin number using a Tech II, that might be why the telescoping steering column is not working correctly.
The telescopic worked at first. Then one time I was adjusting my seat and the telescopic started moving. But I haven't used the Tech II to enter my VIN#. So I will try that now. Thanks. I am getting the lites, but I am not getting the 1214 code. What does that mean? I hit the reset button on all 3 messages, and drive it with the messages not coming back up, although the ABS and Active handling lite on the instrument panel stay lit and does not go out. I do appreciate all the help you guys are giving me.
Ed, it has been a couple of weeks.... How is it going on sorting out your issues?
Hi, well, I have been driving it. No, Salt problems so far. What I still have the ABS, Active handling, and traction control lights (DIC) Air Bag light. I have a noise coming from air conditioner tension, and idler pulley. maybe air-conditioner compressor, although I have cold air. I'm going to replace the belt, tension, and idler pulley soon. The salt water line was half way up on both door control modules, that I replaced. I also replaced the BCM and Fuse box. That's it. It must have been in a garage when it got flooded. there was no mud, grass, etc in floor boards or under carpet. Anyway I don't know why I have these lights. I've been thinking it might be the 5 solder points in the EBCM pump. Thanks for your concern and have a Merry Christmas. Ed Ramsey
Did you inspect the connectors for the EBCM, might be the cause of your indicators if not I don't know how water tight the EBCM is it might have been damaged by the salt water.
Thanks, You know, I did not check the connections. That will be the first thing I do tomorrow, when I get back in the garage. Why I never thought of that, I don't know why. Although not real sure if the water got up that high. The water line is in the middle of the door control module, by evidence of the salt in side of it. Thanks again, All the help is sure appreciated from everyone. Merry Christmas guys. Ed Ramsey
