After buying an 18 year old car, when my hydraulics went to **** I couldn’t wait to do the whole clutch thing. And the old one was looking pretty toasty…

👍
This Vette been in dozens of drag / roll races as well on the street , drift pits etc I’m surprised the clutch lasted this long
And to the guy suggesting master - the same mechanic convinced me NOT to buy a new clutch when my master failed back in the day. Kept telling me it’s the hydraulics. So I know that his takes are genuine.

Well, def go with a Monster TWIN disc. Replace those axle seals too!
Will answer what failed when my mechanic reaches me back.
All I know is this clutch feels great from the get go, and aluminum Flywheel did not make as big of a difference as I thought it’d make.
Revs jump quicker and bite point got much smaller.
Car is much more fun to drive for sure. Engine woke up a bit even though I haven’t stepped on it yet. Regardless it’s just as streetable as it’s ever been. If you disagree buy an automatic
Wanted to ask y’all, what is the proper technique of letting off from a stop? Do I gas it right before the bite point and gas it out? Should the revs drop at all once it engages or am I supposed to increase gas in a way which will keep revs stable?
I’m good at stick but I want to make sure I’m doing this correctly

Don't take this the wrong way, but u just been telling us how awesome the set up is?? So why would you want to try and change the way you drive it, if you love the clutch set up??. I mean how r u doing it now??? Its subjective whatever feels good to you without smelling clutch burning. Just staying. Sounds like to me, you hit a great setup for yourself.
I try to be as quick as I can engaging the clutch. I treat it like an on/off switch unless I'm stopped on an up hill. Then I will engage it until it bites to stop the car from rolling away will I quickly move my right foot from the brake to the gas.
Mechanic said it was a pressure plate spring failure. I was wrong in thinking that the system wasn’t creating pressure - it was, but that pressure does not disengage the clutch.
So yes, I will be doing a full clutch job. RST + LTW flywheel, slave cyl, remote bleeder line, throw out bearing.+ pilot bearing + driveshaft couplers
Thinking about 4.10 or 3.90 gears as well since the drivetrain is coming off. That paired with a lightweight flywheel is gonna be fun

Applaud your choices and commitment. It’s gonna scoot.
I lost the spring out of the hub of the clutch, put a McLeod twin in and lost a disc on the twin. Turned out the couplers were failing.

Dummy I’m just inquiring about the proper driving technique. Why you so negative all the time? Go outside

You realize I’m also the one breaking the clutch in, correct? I want to do so the correct way. I don’t mind changing my driving habits if they put undue wear on the car. As I said earlier you seem negative, your takes are pretty strange as well.

Yes, your not the only one that said this, about my strange comments. I mine, r u having issues taking off from a stop?? Or you don't like the way it takes off. Just saying u changed ur set so there will be a learning curve. Sorry if im coming off negative, what i say in my mine obviously doesn't come on paper, but to me it does. Hope u find ur sweet spot.
