At an autox the other day I spun the car at the finish it shut down and would not run for about 30 minutes. It would crank and every once in a wile it would start then immediately shut down. Is there some kind of time delay fuel shut off sensor?
I recall in my research when my heap wasn't starting that if the car thinks its been in an accident...fuel is shut off [which would make sense]. I believe the steering angle sensor and active handling work in tandem in this capacity so a 360 spin out could be enough to put the car into I think I crashed mode. This not scientific, just from what I recall. I presume the car is starting normally now no? If not, disconnect battery for a few hours and reconnect and try.
Joe,,, NO CRASH MODE or Fuel shut off sensor. Use the DIC to read the DTCs. Examine all the PCM and BCM Diagnostic Codes. If you have any ACTIVE DTCs, that could be the issue. Check for fuel pressure, Spark and see if they are good. List all your DTCs
Wow! Big shout out to the original c5 tech mod, Bill Curlee. I’ve read tens of dozens of his posts. One of the best mods this forum has ever seen. Your posts have been very helpful, Bill! Thank you for all you’ve done. Saved me a lot of money over the years
He helped me get my heap back running
I presume since the OP has not returned to update us...All is well in C5 land
Update, about 30 min after the spin the car started and ran fine since. the only codes I get are,
PCM
P0103 Mass Air Flow Circuit high, I don't have a MAF It's been tuned out for years.
P0801 reverse inhibit solenoid, I have had nothing but trouble for years getting the trans into reverse so I ran my own wires and installed a switch, reverse is very easy to engage now.
RFA
C2120 tire pressure sensor, I don't run sensors on the race tires.
Sounds like "TO ME" that you had a PCM/BCM power or communications glitch. When you see random DTCs with out any rhyme or reason, that's one of the issues to look at.
Always look at the U series (comminutions DTCs) as evidence of deeper issues. They tell a story but yet people just ignore them.
Did you see any of the U series DTCs?
Any bump or abnormal jar can disrupt power, ground or normal digital data streams and cause weird stuff to happen.
Heck, My drivers door power connector for the LDCM, had a poor B+ power connection causing the module to turn on an off on & off and that causing the commutations data stream between all modules to get corrupt! My 02 Z will crank but not start/run when that happens, If I shake the rubber accordion tube between the door and door frame, it will fix the issue! Ive since repaired those damn spread apart loose female pins. The U series DTCs lead me to the root cause of that issue.

Bill Its GOOD to see you posting again. I lost my baby since I talked to you last but found a 98 that looks identical to my other car. Now I am starting to go through all the little things all over again. Looking forward to seeing your posts again
