So that's hard to follow. There are 3 pages labeled "1".

One page has the trans rebuild at $2798, the other page shows transmission service for $3400. The parts to rebuilt the trans should be ~$800, you your case is good, right? They are charging $2000 labor to rebuild the trans? $250 for a cooler "hot flush". They still stuck you with a $160 diag fee even though you just had the balancer replaced. I assume their rate is $100/hr....and they have two mechs for the driveline R&R at just over 4 hours? They must think you are a whale, because they are trying to harpoon you.

sorry for the mix up. There are 2 quotes and 1 diagnostic report. The shop that did the balancer was a different shop that I’ve been using for a long time. Neighbor owns and runs it. Good guy. He thought it was possible the solenoid and wasn’t sure but recommended the transmission shop. He said they were really good.

Still not following, but I'm an engineer, not a dentist. Good luck.

OP, your profile doesn't list your location. You may want to state your location. Local members here may be able to provide some very good info on shop competency and price. I don't like spending $$$$$ any more than the next guy. But I would rather pay a bit more if it translates into better parts/labor. My 02. You can also post your needs in the regional section. Good luck to you....

thanks for the suggestion, I’m in Connecticut. Yes I agree. Still waiting on a detailed response from the shop where it is currently
