Re: Roll bar available for convertible? (bogielake)
[QUOTE]As far as holes in the lid in Jeff's car, I heard of someone getting some custom leather patchs that snap onto the lid to cover the holesQUOTE]
The guy who made my brackets for my Nitrous set up has made me some nice covers to pop in. They will be painted to match the car shortly. BUT I like the leather patch idea. Didn't think that one out enough first. :D

IMHO, I disagree. I have the Exotic Muscle roll bar in my vert. I rarely use the center bar. With the top up you can barely see the bar. With the top down, I think it looks really cool; gives it that race look and let's people know that you might have something going on in there. I always get compliments on the bar with the top down.

Here's the pic you asked for:
I like what I see. :)
How much work is it to pop the rear supports to get the tonneau cover open? Do you have to fiddle with the main hoop? I'm guessing the rear supports cannnot be installed with the top stowed, correct? That's a compromise I think I could live with.

To be honest with you, I LOVE THIS ROLL CAGE! Now the part I don't love. Putting the top up and down is a major pain in the a**. If just using for street use it's not too bad because I have the rear supports out and the door bars off, so it's pretty easy to open or close the top. BUT, it can't be done with the door bars in place. The main hoop pivots forward about 5" to allow the top to fold when opening or closing, and yes the rear supports can't be used with the top down. We opted for this set up as this car has gone from my daily driver to garage kept drag car. If something ever happens to this car I would have the same people build me the exact same set up, I like it so much. :D
Re: Roll bar available for convertible? (ToplessTexan)
The best part was the car came back cleaner than when it went in. That Speedworks cage would have been my second choice. Good luck at whatever you go with.

To each his own.
:iagree: The crossbrace is only used for the track, to make the car legal for NCCC/SCCA events. Guaranteed: Your wife won't like it if she's the passenger.
Without the crossbrace, the overall structure of the rollbar and racing harnesses still afford plenty of protection in the event of a mishap during a spirited convertible cruise thru the mountains with the top down.
Re: Roll bar available for convertible? (Mean Green 2000)
I had thought about this issue when I had my '98 convertible and I struggled with the issue of cosmetic appeal and creature comfort of a roll bar. Throw in the fact that some tracks want you to have a 6 point roll bar, I decided to do nothing. I always wondered if the removeable hardtop that Caravaggio makes would pass cursory technical inspection (as Wall Street Al has) If so, it is not nearly as a impactful move to your car, it would have some re-sale value (as opposed as to most likely a perceived reduction in value with a roll bar) and I bet would pass technical inspection, especially if you kept your mouth shut
