My 00 vert NM6 (mods Z06 heads/LPE cam) with 18,000 miles starting using 1 qt every 2500 miles. Can someone tell me if I should have the dealership do an oil consumption test and re-ring with stronger 02 version? Or is this some what normal or acceptable. Thanks for the advice.

1 qt. every 2500 is really good for a non-reringed LS1. I just started my consumption test the other day with the dealer because it looks like I am going through a quart every 1600 miles. Not sure what the cutoff is, but you aren't close to it.

How do you know that you just burned 1 quart?
thanks
Here is the deal. We drive high perfermance sport cars and many like myself mod the crap out of them. Some drive in the upper RPM range to hear the exhaust and other pleasant engine sounds. The we see the car needs a 5 dollar quart of oil and we get nervous. Check out the new M3 BMW. Some are getting 1,200 miles to the quart and their BMW oil cost 9 dollars a quart.
Drive the car and oil it up when it needs it and don't worry about it. It is a well known problem that shows up when you drive at higher RMPS under light loads. I say so what. My car is faster that I thought it could be and runs super. Sometimes it uses oil and other times it does not. Depends on how I drive. ALso, try some 15-50 Mobil one in the hot summer and you will see oil useage drop. BTW, that oil is reccommended by some of the very best turners out there. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :seeya :steering: :auto: :hurray:
