Re: GP: Valaya Racing Debris Guards (Valaya Racing)
Evil-twin
The first one was made from "gutter screen", just kidding!
We tested several types of screen and metal on our track and street cars. The problem with a screen is it's to weak to keep the front air dam open at higher speeds. If you look at a picture of a Corvette at higher speeds you will see the middle air dam pushing back over two inches, Next time you get under your car try pushing the dam back and you will see it starts blocking off the air into the cooling system. We use stainless steel made in the USA and made then here to keep the money in the USA. :flag

I find the Corvette guys have alot more money then my F-body customer.
(just kidding). The Corvette screen has more bends and cuts to make it fit.
I made up the Debris Guard due to the problems my customers were experiencing on the street, such as plastic bags, rocks, dirt, etc, and also for our customers who track their cars. We have had a couple of the track cars come back after a weekend of racing with cracked or damaged radiators due to rocks and other debris hitting the radiator at 80mph+. A Debris Guard is much cheaper than a new radiator.
If you don't think you need one on your car, just look up under the front bumper into the radiator inlet. If you don't see any debris (leaves, dirt, dead birds, etc) then you dont need a Debris Guard on your car.

Thanks for posting the reply regarding the GP!
Would you mind to post back periodically and let us know how many are in on the GP? Right now, it looks like you have 6 or 7 confirmed buyers @ the $99 rate. I'm one of them, and I'm sure we'd all like to know how close we are at.
made one myself
How about a picture so we can see how nice your's came out?
:D
BUY ME A DIGITAL CAMERA and I'd be glad to ! :D
That's about what I thought we would get for an answer, my guess is is no friends either.

$99 bucks for something you could make for 10 bucks - and you wonder why every nit picking thing for a C5 is overpriced - you'all willing to pay for it!

If you don't like the vendor's offer you'd be well off to just move on and not criticize it on his thread! The Forum cops will get you if you are not careful!
A piece of tire on the freeway (probably from a blow out) hit my front bumper at 70mph...It completely destroyed my Z06 screens. Those screens are pretty strong and it still got smashed up. I some of you think you can just go buy some cheap gutter screen from Home Depot and it will be durable like the Valaya Racing Debris Guards your crazy. These Debris Guards are Very strong. It is a thick stainless steel that is stamped out and polished. When I picked one up I was very surprised to see how strong it was.
You can get some chicken wire, duct tape, and 3 hours on your back ghetto rigging something or you can bolt up a high quality piece of stainless steel that will use stock bolting points. Valaya even tested the shape and widths of the holes to see what size would filter out the most debris and still flow well. I'll be having one put on in a week or 2.

look familiar ?
Had some stainless laying around.
Won't bend and if you do bend it , you have bigger problems than the screen
