This is on the PS Header from our EDD.
I touched up the scratch I made from installing them, as you see not much rust there, but its hard to miss the big rust blob at the botttom.........hum not a good coating job.

The DS is ok
At least no leaks
Mine were one of the first 25 sold and after 9 months and several thousand miles, they shine like new. Would definately call FLP on the matter.
Joe :steering:
i would have them recoated soon....flps are mild steel and are not going to last long without the coating............Stainless Works headers are on mine :D no rust ever
Mine have some slight rust like yours show as well and I've got about 15,000 miles on em..maybe 9 months time. I'm not worried about it....its an exhaust pipe. <shrug>
I'm getting some rusty runoff marks from the AC drain as well. Not sure where the "rust" color is coming from as the header pipes still look fairly shiney and new.
Re: FLP rust in 10 months..... (ALLTHROTTLE&NOBOTTLE)
Woah.. that's pretty bad. Figuring how much the FLP header kit costs I would suggest putting that warranty to work. FLP does use jet hot coating and it is warranted against this.
I'm not going to be to happy if that happens to mine for next spring.
This was going to be my next mod. Now you guys have me worried. :skep: I will be watching this thread with great interest. Please let us know how it turns out.
Re: FLP rust in 10 months..... (ALLTHROTTLE&NOBOTTLE)
I'd still send these photo's to FLP and see what they say.
Would definately call FLP on the matter.
They are being apprised of the situation today, thanks Shawn!
I highly doubt FLP is going to willing do anything for you. I had a set of headers that came on scratched up and they told me to send em some pics and then they did nothing till I callled and then accused me of doing the damage. Only after I complained on the forum did they go and have vendors open up boxes to inspect them and sure enough they found the same scratches. If you only have rust consider yourself lucky....the collector tab on mine broke off.
Ceramic coating can not rust by itself. Thats what they call surface rust. You can just take some metal polish to the headers and the rust should just polish right out. I dunno if the FLPs are made out of stainless or not if they are not and you scraped them hard enough to scrape off the ceramic coating it will rust and you will either have to touch it up with high temp paint or have them recoated. Most manufactorers out there will not warrenty something that has been abused.
FLP is going to say that you have damaged the coating and that type of claim is NOT covered in the warrenty. I have had plenty of friends try to collect on "COATED" header problems and NONE have been succesful. It's easy for the header company to point the finger at YOU and say your at fault because of somethng that you did or you ran over. GOOD LUCK! I hope that FLP fixes the problem for you.
I wonder how long your car will be with out a passengers side exhaust system?
That is another problem with trying to collect on header warrenty issues. Most companies make you send in the defective header for examination.
That means that the car is OOC for the period of time or you have a header on one side and stock exhaust on the other. What really SUCKS is when you get it back in 6 weeks with a tag that says Warrenty claim denied! :mad :mad :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :skep:
