:iagree: the 335's I put on the rear robbed me of a few ponies and the 390 gears even more, the only way I can get the power back is to put my skinnies on the rear and put 50 or 60lbs in them for a rear hp gain  seriously in the 60's they built a few production engines that produced over 1 hp per cubic inch like the 425hp 396 malibu's, this equates to 1.07hp per ci, some of the limited production cars did better but these numbers were not at the wheels and no telling what the drive train loss was in those days, I assumed because of a lack of experience with TB's MAF and computers perfecting timing curves and AF ratio's that this was the reason we were getting these kind of numbers, I will say this my friend had a 67 427 tri-power in his stingray and I'm not sure it could beat a stock c5, its been a long time since I drove it but the 1/4 times were not any better and probably worst than the c5's, so I can see how the computer and other advances in the elec, tb's and maf could deff provide more hp per ci and a lot of the guys with the big numbers are turning big numbers at the track as well, I would love to see some comparison's on your dyno and see just how much more hp they have than a stocker. How much hp does your dyno say a stock c5 or zo6 has?
Since you mentioned him, why dont you call Myron Cottrell and ask him what a stock internal LS1 (tuned, with bolt-ons) dynoed in on his engine dyno? I bet you'll be suprised.
If dynojets are so wrong, why dont all the non-ls1's dyno arbitrarily high?
I am saying a stock bottom rotating assemby including stock pistons
11.0 Compression ratio- Natural Aspirated LS1 on pump gas 93 octane
346 cid ! Its hard to believe over 1.35 HP per cube much less 480 rwhp
which is 564 at the crank based on 15% loss on MN6. Now we are at 1.63
HP per cube! This is on pump gas on a production tolerence rotating assembly! out of 346 cubes ! I am not a know it all but I know one thing
this cannot be done! Keep dreaming it doesn't cost anything
OK so let me get this straight....my car just pulled 126.3mph in the 1/4 mile on a 66 degree day with a broken tranny but im not really making 472 at the wheels. What the hell got me down the track....hopes and dreams?
I was there when Myron did the run - 400 HP with dyno headers no exhaust
and no accessories at the crank! That would be 340 on a Dynojet
Ask him if he beleives the numbers being thrown around!
He will just laugh!
As mentioned 1.3 HP/CI meaning 450 BHP is more then acheivable by any engine builders standards......on an LS1
Look at it like this 420 On your dyno 450 on LG's both run 11.3
People also felt that it was impossible that a factory american car, with complete emissions NA could run 11's stock! Fact is it has happened!!!!!!!!
I understand how older fashioned guys feel about this. Hell I deal with them everyday.....grand pa, etc! This is a new wave...for comparison cars are faster, quicker, and more driviable then they have ever been. That is not hard to understand if you go to the track.
My cartek setup is 11:1 and it is tuned a little on the richer side just to keep it safe. This shop cares about how reliable the car is too and believe me it is. Many people use their cartek heads and cam cars as daily drivers with no problems.
10.92@126.3 is whats been done and thats with a tranny that grinds like crazy in 4th. If im not making a large amount of rwhp then how am i getting trap speeds like that.
