Brent, I totally agree with you about track times proving HP/TQ levels. I had my totaly stock '99 on a Dynojet (here local) a few months after I bought it....made 294rwhp...that equates to 345.9 rwhp...very close to what GM claims....my first round of mods took me to 322rwhp (on the same Dynojet) As soon as my headers are on, I will put my car back on the same Dynojet and get another set of numbers. I'm sure all dynos have certain inherant errors, but if my car makes anything close to the 700/700 level on the same Dynojet, then I'm convinced its reasonably accurate. Anyone who has ridden my car knows what unbelievable power it makes....and thats no illusion.
   i just spit all over my screen!!!!
Lick it off dude!!
OK guys - I know how miserable it is for my buddy's Z06 to hook first gear with the street tires (stock F1s), so you gotta let the cat out of the bag - what type of tires are you using to hook your 10 second runs - and what RPMs are you dropping the clutch to get these insane 60 ft times? Slicks and 5000 rpm? Just curious!! :seeya
I've been leaving around 5200-5300rpms on ET streets....maybe thats why I cant get the 60fts Brent does. Damn Brent 6000 rpms...I spun each time I tried that. Maybe I should slip the clutch a little more and give it another try.
Always somebody crying when others do well....... I have a performance fuel injection shop in upstate NY and deal exclusively with Cartek for our cylinder head and cam packages. We have been dealing with Dave and Julio for almost three years and have been a part of the development for that time. I have installed over 12 cylinder head and cam packages ,this year alone, that would more then put the post to rest. Not to mention my 418 motor making the numbers that it does with there porting and cam recommendations. I feel very confident when I tell a customer a power level and track performance result that I am not BSing them. Every package we install seems to keep making more and more power as they continue R&D with there stuff. This spring I did a Stage 2X-LS1 package on my fathers 2000 MN6. Through the cats, unported intake and 3.90 gears the car made 442 RWHP! Now he won't take it to the track but I have been in plenty of low 11 second cars to know that this is one of them.
Our ZO6, with the older heads and cam, has gone 11.04 at over 126 mph. As stated all installs where done by myself and tuned by Cartek. All of these cars that where done have all run times that are consistent with Brent, C5Pig, Billy, KH24 etc......... it's not a miracle!
As a matter of fact I just finished another with a package that is 1 step behind what Brent will be getting and I expect 460+ all day long. I'll post it in the next week and a half when we get it on the dyno. Give me your address and I'll send you some tissues!
I am not sure whom you post is directed to but if it is to me. I would like to clarify a few things. This is not about proving anything to me because I don’t care I respect Cartek and their racers. They have accomplished a lot over the past few years. We have developed a great competitive and fun relationship here in the northeast and if this is going to jeopardize that I prefer to step aside. The purpose of me going through these motions is to give Julio an opportunity to prove to others that his claims are true and it is being verified by an outside competitor. What could be more convincing? I will tell you that I will look over everything before the run. Confirm the weight of the car. Watch as they remove a rod and piston from the motor. I all so will check the crank.
All to verify and confirm Carteks claims. This is not for me, it is for them and if anyone sees it differently I will step aside.
My response was directed to anyone who feels Carteks package's are BS and over inflated. My repeated installations of there packages is a perfect example of what there hard work can do. Julio spends countless late night's at there shop pushing the envelope of the GEN 3 motors capacity, which still has not been reached.
I can't blame any of the dedicated Cartek people for getting a little frustated over this post because too many of us have laid down the number both on the dyno and the track.
I guess as soon as it all unfolds I'll be sending tissue boxes all over the country!
Truth be told....the numbers you all put out are great. I do not doubt that they are stock bottom ends....the numbers are put out by lots of people. Some on the internet, some not....some that go to the track, some not.
I even personally inquired about the setup, and have not yet found time to call, as requested by Cartek.
I think that alot of people are mistaken the few that don't believe, as a lot:) I really don't think that people doubt you guys. Hell I myself along with others want to believe, as that sets our goals higher, and it lets us expect more from our tuners (whether they are cartek or not)....
There is no doubt in my mind it is possible what you do. However, that barrier has been overcome (10's on stock bottom end). Now go 9's NA with a street car on a stock bottom end :) j/k
I think it would be neat, however, if a stock motored car could go 9's heads, cam, power adder, etc....that would be even more impressive. It is hard to come up with something to top what has been done, but if someone said 3 years ago that a stock motor would do what people have, let alone 30 years....I would think it was crazy too;)
I would like everyone to know that The Vette Doctor has nothing to due with this whole thing. They have express to me that they would have preferred that I had stayed out of the post in the first place. How ever out of fairness to Julio and the Cartek gang I feel obligated to follow through with the plan. Once again I give Cartek a lot of credit. They are truly stepping up to the plate
OK guys, I own half the shop that Performance Garage in Smyrna ,Tn is housed in. I own 2 C-5's and today I dynoed my 2002 Z06 with the following mod's:K&N, Dr. Gas X-pipe, and Corsa exhaust. Results were 365 hp to the rear. So, I then pumped up the rear tires to 60 psi and redynoed the car, resulting in no change whatsoever in the Dynojets readings! So much for inflating values with air pressure in this instance.
NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!! I just got off the phone with Brent and MAJOR DOUBTER :lol:I mean Major Spray, Brent ran an 11.0 pass tonight and Cartek is almost finished tearing down the motor, soon we will all see the facts!!!!!!!! THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!!!!!!!!!      :D :yesnod:  ;) It sounds like there having a party over at Cartek.
Now that I think about it,we should have flown Mr.GooseEgg up to NJ to witness this with his own jealous eyes and then "GOOSED" him with the stock LS1 crankshaft. :D
