Default acceleration problems

I just bought my first Vette, 50th AE. I'ts great! Although now that I'm getting use to it, it seams as if there is a delay when I punch the throttle from about 30%. What could cause this delay?
Also, thanks for developing this forum. I've been checking it out well before I bought my vette. Cheers  [IMG][/IMG]

Welcome to the forum.
Do you have an automatic or 6-speed?

I have a six speed. I notice the lag mainly in first gear when I start to accelerate from about 30% throttle to wide open. The lag is about 2 seconds before re-engaging.

Maybe due to wheelspin, the active handling kicks in. Try with AH off.

Hope this helps

:iagree:
Sometimes the tires are spinning & you can't hear anything! Happens to me sometimes, so I'm used to it & can tell if/when it's happening! Hope that's all it is!

Are you sure about the "2 seconds"? Thats seems like a real long time...

I agree with the others, its probably silent wheel spin.

Welcome and congrats on the new Vette. Hopefully it is just wheelspin.

Well, when your without power it seams longer than it probably is. You may be right it could be wheel spin. Now that I think of it, this doesn't happen in any other gear. thanks for your help>

the problem is this your cam doesnt make power until about 3500 the ls1 motor is great but it doesnt start to build peek torque until the high rpms. dont worry there is a ton of after market parts to fix that and anybody who says it weel spin is dead wrong a stock c5 in my opinion is a dead slug thats why you have to start with bolt on modifications if you want to fix your accelerating problem put 3.90s or 4.10s in spend 1800 because thats what it cost to do everything including the computer but you will have twice the car you have now. be care full alot of after market parts are a scam a donot do much but three things I know that work excellent a good set of long tube headers xpipe and exhaust, gears, and air intake the most important is gears its like riddind a 10 speed bike if you start off in the tenth speed setting its harder to get going compared if you start in first

Have you tried a after market air filter yet? You may be pleasently suprised. The stock unit is very restrictive.

This is not exactly true. No it doesn't make a lot of horsepower 'till higher up in the rpm's but good torque is available down low. In fact good torque is available almost EVERYWHERE.

Here's a breakdown of my dyno sheet per every 100rpm (just had intake and exhaust when this was done. Over 300lb' at 2800 all the way to 5700rpm = FUN!)

2800 or 3500 is relitivily in the same range ok so I m a few rpms off big deal and remember the tach on the dyno is not in calabration with the factory one so on the dyno its 2800 in the car its 3300-3500 ok close enough call it day

I haven't tried an aftermarket air filter yet . . .I'm a little confused of which to buy. I've been reading this forum for quite a while and there seams to be a lot of talk about the Varam and the Blackwing.
