what kind of compression ratios can an ls1 run on pump gas? was going to try for 11.5 to 1 with mild cam, long tubes, high flow cats, xpipe. has any one had any sucess with that much compression on the street? thanks for any input :seeya
Re: pump gas and compression ratio...... (vettemaster1)
There are many factors that determine the compression that you can run with pump gas....
If your running a 220/220 112lsa with 12.0:1 you will need more than pump gas because your effective compression will be high due to the limited overlap.
Now on the other hand if you only change the cam and go to a 230's duration you can get away with pump gas. It all depends on the combo. Drop me a line if you need help

Re: pump gas and compression ratio...... (Phil97SVT)
Hi Philip,
What CR can I get away with using this cam :
Lift: .581/.581 Dur@.050: 224/224 LSA: 112 114
I am also planning to get AFR heads . Which CC size ( 66 vs 76 ) should I go with keeping in mind I want to go with a S/C down the road. i.e I want the car to run strong now when I do the heads only then won't have any head issues when I go S/C. Is this possible or will a new Head be part of my S/C budget ? Thanks in advance for your help.
P.S. Will the above cam work with a S/C ? I will also go 383 ( 3.905 bore / 4.00 stroke / 6.125 rod length ) before S/C ) so appreciate your input about this as well. :seeya

Hi Kaley,
That is a GTR tip exhaust ( I think- there is no indication ) I don't know exactly because that was on when I bought her ( used ;) ) . It sounded nice but I took the whole thing off to go with SLP Loudmouths. I'll post new pics when I get my car done
( Still getting done at the workshop ).
