Default Lockite your plugs!

What happened is that my 10K miles NGK TR55 plugs started missing! The #7 plug (naturally!) had an odd occurace. The wire end of tip of the spark plug had unscrewed itself, so that the plug itself was seperated from its tip! But the tip was still held in the boot and the boot still held the wire.
In the fuure I will locite the tip onto the body of the spark plug as has been recomended by Forum members.

The loctite will hold up in the heat? Seems like it would melt right out to me.

You can also give them a little squeeze with a wire crimper to make sure they don't unscrew. ;)

I would be careful using loctite because it is not electrically conductive and could insulate the threaded stem from the adaptor. I have always tightened them with a needle nose pliers and then squeezed them gently with a crimper to keep them from loosening.

I think a squeeze would be the better way to do it...

No on the Loctite, yes on the crimp.

When I installed the NGK's I noticed that the tips were a little loose, so I used pliers to tighten them more securely. After a year, none have come loose. Loctite seems like overkill in this instance.
