p.s. don't give up on next week so quick...it may be something minor...
I'm trying, but I know deep down, it's not something "easy" :(.....been talking with Chris and Doug at ECS and they ran me thru some stuff to check and Doug thinks, based on what I found, that it's an internal seal for the turbo :(
Just count your blessings you can actually think about driving your car at all . . . as mine is still sitting in the garage hibernating while I continue to send hate mail to a little fuzzy guy named Puxitawny Phil that is afraid of his shadow
That almost looks like a hole. Look in the area above the oil stain (last 2 photos and "above" is actually to the right as the photos are sideways) on the line and there appears to be where the leak is. There and possibly near that copper colored bolt and brass connector.
I hope its not damage to one of the turbos itself. That looks expensive but what do I know.
Which makes me wonder, and this is just the skeptic in me. And I don't even know why I'm thinking this. Seems strange that you have had this very expensive car, that you got for a steal, for all of how many weeks and now you could be looking at an expensive repair. I don't want to plant any seeds, but I would be pissed right about now.
I'm getting real bad vibes now. Like someone may have put some JB weld in there ahead of time.
Just me rambling. But I hate to see bad things happen to good people.
OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!! Make lemonade outta that turbo lemon.... This may be an opportune time to UPGRADE the turbo for a bigger/better model! :D
I don't know what those things cost, but the way these kids are strapping turbos on Hondas and Mustangs - I gotta think you could really hook yourself up.
Either way, I sure hope things workout for the best. Let us know as things progress along. :lurk:

I had the same thoughts but I seriously doubt that is the case, one of the parties involved is a trusted forum member, and hopefully, one way or the other, LPE (Ed) and I can work it out :)

Well good luck Mark. Since your accident, I have been pulling for you. When you got the Z , I was happy for you, and when you got the LPE Vette, again I was happy for you. Now this.
Just a thought, remembering my own past turbo design troubles...I noticed that your turbo oil discharge was lower than the oil level in the pan.
You probebly know that the oil that comes out of the turbo is whipped up like whipped cream and needs to go downhill to the oil sump...and in a big straight discharge line...or the oil will back up, causing excessive discharge line pressure and eventually seep past the seals into your turbo...causing blue smoke.
The fix for a low mounted turbo is an auxillary sump with a scavenge pump.
I don't know if the kit you have was designed with a sump+pump or not...and I could not tell from your pics. If you do have a sump and pump, then perhaps check the discharge line for kinks or funky bends that might cause it to clog (kinda like the old "s" traps that used to be common in kitchen drain clogs). Make sure that the discharge line is moving the oil continuously downhill from the turbo to the sump.
Mark,
I'll be in Marietta Georgia with the rig in a few days. I leave tomorrow morning bright and early. Right now I'm headed west empty. If you need me let me know... I'll IM you my cell. I'll probably be swinging buy John Page's shop (21st Century Muscle Car) on the way home anyway. Or if you need me to go North to Decatur I'm sure we can work something out.
Take care brother... the forum is a great place and we're all here to help!
Bill :)
[edit] IM isn't working currently - cell - 602-318-4461 ... I'm goin to bed... many long days ahead.
Cool man, I really appreciate that, may have to take ya up on the offer :)
btw, the rims/wheels were waiting for me when I got home, got 'em on the car and they look great, just wish I coulda given 'em a test drive :)
From a previous Turbo Buick guy...oil seals in turbos are like shipping crystal UPS Ground. Fragile as hell
A minute amount of dirt or carbon can launch the seal. TurboTnZ06 grenaded the stock motor in his Turbo T 'bout 2 years ago. The metal in the oil sys immediately ruined the Turbo seals.
:( damned Mark! Tell you what...............take all the LPE crap off your car right now :smash: .......hell I'll help you........and even give you a few bucks for it :jester
Hey Mark,
I wish I could offer some mechanical insight, but I am cluless. I can however throw in my "emotional" support. I can imagine you go from a great high getting the car to this "uknown" problem. I know you are pissed but don't let you mind think all the worst things, I have a friend who says 90% of what we worry about never happens.
I realize its the not knowing combined with not racing. Try to stay positive and let LPE figure it out, IT MOST LIKELY IS SOMETHING SMALL, and you'll be rolling again way before you thought.
I am really sorry for the Headache, but I am confident that with a litlle time it will be resolved to your satisfaction. If not you always have the weight of the forum behind you
