OEM Battery no longer holds a charge. Which is the best one to use for a replacement Red or Yellow??
Does the Optima come with side terminals or just top??
Is there a special procedure to follow when installing a new battery? What about the settings? Will I lose all my settings?? Best price???
Thanks
FRED
The red top is the one to use. The yellow is a deep cycle battery. It will work, but it's more intended for extended slow current drains, not the high current bursts like starting the car requires.
The Optimas have both side and top posts.
No special procedure to change it, and I don't think you'll lose your settings. At least I never have. You may have to reset your keyfob remotes, but I never had to and I've disconnected the battery many times.
I just installed the Red top and it is lighter than a standard battery, looks better and works great! Red top is the one decigned for your car! Mine has both the top and side terminals. I got it at AUTOZONE and it came with the hold down puck that makes it fit a C5.
I looked at the Red Top as well. There were two, not sure of the number, but one had the side terminals close together and the other didn't. The one with the terminals close looks like it might stretch the cables and put tension on them. What numbers is everyone running? Is anyone running the red top with the larger terminal spread? As I remember this battery was a bit smaller physically.
