My battery now will not keep a charge. I left the battery in my car during the cold winter and while it sat all winter long. Is there a good replacement to buy?
Let me be the first to tell you what most here believe in, the Optima red top.
That is not what I did though, I stuck with an AC Delco, I got the AGM type to avoid possible acid leaks. Whatever you do, get a quality battery, your car will love you for it.
Thanks for the info. I called a few places that have the optima red and they tell me that it's not for the vette?
Those places don't know what they are talking about. An Optima Red Top is available in a size and with posts that work fine with a vette. Many people here run Red Tops.
Yes, the Red Top is probably the forum's favorite aftermarket battery. However, I went with an Optima Yellow Top. You can't go wrong with either.
I replaced my DELCO with a Champion XLT (AGM Battery) size/number DT35/CHXDT35 made by Exide. Got it at SAMS Club for $90-95. It has 690 CCA, 850 CA, a 36 month free replacement and free jump-start, and a 108 month limited warranty.
I got my Optima Red top at Costco. I've been using it since last fall.
If you want a lightweight battery, there's a decent one by Hawker/Oddysey/Genesis. It's the same battery sold under different brands. Several racers around here use it.
Optima is a great battery. My friend has one that he just cannot kill. Thats where my vote goins when mine goes dead. Hopefully awhile, since it's a relatively new AC Delco.
You also want to get a VDC Electronics battery minder or a
Deltran battery tender plus. You can leave either of these on the battery
when the car is not in use (especially winter) and forget about it.
This will prolong your battery life.
