I have had most of the common C5 problems: dead battery, seat rock, gas gauge, and leaky rear end. Now I have something new. My car would not start. There was a clicking noise, but not the same noise when trying to turn the starter motor and the battery is bad. In this case after I turn off and remove the key there was a clicking noise from the right side of the dash that continued for 5-10 seconds after the key was removed. This is a new one for me, any ideas what the problem is? Thanks.
Bud,, it could be 1 of 1000 things! If you want to check some of the COMMON C5 issues that cause a lot of heart burn, here they are!
- Check the passengers foot well area for dampness. Pull up the toe board and see if the BCM is wet or damp. Check the carpet and carpet underlayment to see if it is damp. Let me know if it is!
Bill, Thanks for the info. Fortunately mine turned out to be a dead battery. Now, why my car continued to make a clicking noise after the key was removed I will never know. Third battery in four years.
Here is your answer! If your battery is almost dead, there are relays that activate shutdown circuits and security modules. If the battery voltage is low enough the relays will try to pick up to turn these circuits on but do not have enough power to latch them in the ON position!
C5's DO NOT like low battery voltage!!!
